| Dexter is about to get out of his new playpen Our Dexter is 5 mos old, we got him a week ago. We purchased this pen Iris CI-604 Indoor/Outdoor Plastic Pet Pen, 4 Panels Seems he figured out he can get his hind legs in the second horizontal supports, he is about to jump out. Did we get the wrong one? Anyone have some suggestions. TIA |

| I had that same playpen and ZoE figured out how to scale the walls before she was even 12 weeks old. I ended up taking it down and packing it away in the basement as I thought it was a hazard and was worried about her falling over the top of it. IMO, the design of it is flawed as the horizontal bars create a ladder effect for escape.

| Here's a picture of what I use for Lilly. She's not a puppy, mind you, and was used to being in a cage 24/7 (she's a puppymill rescue). But she's not the only dog I've used it for. When I fostered puppies, I used this playpen. I have a fuzzy bed and blanket in one corner, a water bowl in another corner and it's lined with puppy pee pads. Plus there's toys in there. This is where Lilly sleeps and where she goes when I have to leave the house.

| You're very welcome. My Lilly is between 10 and 12 pounds (it seems to vary from day to day), just an FYI in case you were wondering

Prior to that she was in a very old Superyard XT that I'd had from from previous yorkie. I bought the Iris pen because I thought it would "look" better sitting in my living room. I used it maybe two days....what a waste of money. After that I didn't bother with a play pen, I just gated off the hallway, so she just had access to the living room, kitchen & dining room. By 12 weeks she was fully potty trained, so a few weeks after that she got the run of the house. If your pup is at all inquisitive/intelligent...I'd look for a playpen with a better design.

YT 1000 Club Member | I have to say that I'm extremely fortunate Romeo's never scaled the IRIS playpen. I actually purchased 3 of them because I use them instead to block my extra wide doorways and keep Romeo out of certain rooms, i.e., the kitchen. I like the fact that you can "connect" the panels -- gave me multiple options.

| We have the Iris- but the 36"high one! it is clean, adaptable and the height makes it unscalable . I paid $70 for it on Amazon and was surprised at some of the other sites prices! we are using 6 of the 8 panels now for Abby -5 months and 4 lbs. |

| Dexter is 6 lbs, too smart for his age. We ordered this play pen from Amazon. 1 "Richell Pet Playpen PT 900" |

I disagree with this. Height doesn't make it unscalable....it just makes the fall over the top more dangerous. The design makes it scalable regardless of height.

Katie Scarlett's Mommy Donating Member | We have the Potty Training Puppy Apartment and coordinating x pen. It is really tall and so far, Katie Scarlett hasn't even tried to get out. She rarely even gets up on her back 2 feet when I put her in. This has worked great for us, but it did cost a pretty penny as we say in the south. LOL. But it has been worth every penny for us. Katie Scarlett has done fabulous on her potty training. We got her at 12 weeks. She is almost 5 months and is fully potty trained we think. She hasn't had an accident in weeks. I've started letting her have free range of the house for small periods at a time and so far she has gone to her pad every time she needed to go. But the coordinating x pen is great. It's taller than the crate and I don't see how she could get out. But I know these little cuties can be little Houdini's. I just hope KS won't figure it out. But also, we really do not put her in there very much. She mostly stays around the house with me since I am a stay at home wife. www.modernpuppies.com Sorry I couldn't be of more help. I hope you can find a good solution for you and your Yorkie!

| I always used an x=pen and still do for Molly as she is not house broken. She is a puppy mill rescue and is 5 years old so it is taking some time to get her to understand she has to go outside. Plus she is blind so that plays in there to.
