| ![]() .........I just have to comment. Excellent info Fem.....you are very knowledgable, candid with very little attitude, caring........I would buy one of your puppies. I think you are excellent. My only reason for responding to this thread was to say some of my yorkies are CKC and I am not a puppy mill. I am honest, mean what say, and its very important my yorkies are healthy and happy when they leave here........whether CKC or AKC and purebred, I stand by this. They will be purebreds, because that is all I raise is Yorkie babies. I havent a problem with mixed breeding with other breeds, just controlling breeding, I have a real problem about over breeding females( this doesnt mean i do it! It means I dont like it). If I have a CKC registered or AKC registered yorkie in my premises that is not purebred it was before me. If I am anything I am honest. Why did I buy some CKC registered yorkies? HEALTH. | ![]() Direct from the APR site: We hope that registration will make your pet more valuable to you. In the eyes of the public this certainly seems to be a factor in pricing them for sale. All that is needed to start a family tree is your pets registration. YIKES! and this from the APRI site APRI announces the founding of American Pet Records America's Pet Registry, Inc. has yielded to the requests of numerous breeders and pet owners to establish a registry service that can accept dogs with known parents but those that do not have documented pedigrees at this time. Until now, APRI has been unable to register many dogs from other registry services that do not have documented pedigrees. With the establishment of American Pet Records the same great APRI service is available to those who have begged APRI to accept their dogs for dual registration. The American Pet Records dogs will not be entered into the APRI database but will be recorded separately. An American Pet Records dog may be mated with an APRI dog; however, the litter will be issued as American Pet Records. Litter pedigrees will not be offered on these litters, nor will pedigrees on the American Pet Records dogs be available at this time. When Reg'ing a litter with APRI - they REQUIRED a 3 generation pedigree but will accept from CKC UKC UAB and so on.

| ![]() I have really enjoyed all this discussion... The AKC registry does NOT make us better quality breeders it gives us comfort of knowing the past, the present and the future of the breed. What I cant agree with is when a bitch (whether AKC, CKC or APRI) whelps a chocolate, or a cleft or a hernia that a breeder will continue breeding the bitch. The moment you get a inferior quality of the breed the bitch should be spayed right after whelping never to pass on the genes again. SexBruceLee; how many litters do I have per year? I have just started with Yorkies since my move back to Portland Oregon, prior in Southern California I had bred Maltese ( I actually prefer the Yorkies over the Maltese they seem to have less health problems and skin problems white haired dog tends to be more sensitive). I have two bitchs and one male the second bitch has just come into her first season and will not breed her till her second season my other bitch gave me a great litter born 12/17/04 and all are sold but one at 11 weeks old (two will be leaving at 12 weeks after second shot and final health check up at the vet, one wont be picked up until mid April). I am keeping my little girl to place her into my breeding program but first the show ring (I hope) right now I believe she has great potential. Yesterday I had a very reputable Oregon breeder, California show person come to look at my litter (which I totally respect she has whelped 16 champions) She reassured me of my new little girl and said keep her but really will make up my mind when she's another month older. Finally, in any breed it depends on when the Bitch comes into heat...some are every 6-8 months if that is the case you rest every other season, then there are others that may come into heat every 12-14 months then you can breed with each season. A bitch is recommended not to be bred more than 4 -5 times at most then retired.

| ![]() Janice Angle is the breeder/show champions name you can find her in the registry... Yorkshire Terrier Magazine is doing a feature article about her and her breeding Yorkies in their next edition. She is very excited and flattered she was selected.

| ![]() OKay maybe I am confused but did anyone mention the UKC? (United Kennel Club) That's what my Baby is registered under and I was just wondering if anyone had any information on them compared to the rest. I guess I started to think it was a local organization because it's out of Kalamazoo, MI. I'm in Constantine, Mi, about 30 minutes away. I guess it could just be a coindence? |

| ![]() UKC is a respected registry since late 1800 and is the second oldest registry but still AKC will not accept UKC cross over. UKC will only accept AKC cross over but WILL NOT accept CKC, APR, APRI and so on. Their standards are very simular to the AKC by only accepting a 3 generation pedigree to reg a dog, they will not accept anything less.

| ![]() Sigh... I'd just like to point out again that the true CKC (lol to me anyway) is the CANADIAN KENNEL CLUB and is NOT to be confused with the other ckc. It is just as strict as the AKC in all regards to the best of my knowledge. I just don't want my American neighbors getting confused ![]() |

So for Canaidan outthere worry not if you see CKC for registation so long as it is registration from Canada. If you are concerned about a breeder there you can also send them an email requesting if they are registered with them. I did that and got a responce in one day. They were very helpfull. | |
