| For those of you with long haired yorkies... I have decided to let Foxy's hair grow out, but she does go to the groomers Tuesday. My question is that I was wondering if those of you with longer haired yorkies still have the groomer trim around the potty area? Dumb question I know, but just wanted to ask. Thanks!!

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I groom mine myself mostly but I do trim their area. I think the groomers call it a sanitary trim. No dumb questions when it comes to our babies.

| Always trim there but you could do that youself and save some money if you are comfortable doing that

| I keep both my girls with long hair... I too like the santiary cut (do it myself). If you choose to bring Foxy to the groomer, be very specific about what you want done (and what you do not want done . If they are new to you, I'd even go so far as to write down the specifications and give it to them when you drop Foxy off for her day of beauty

| I had mine clipped shorter a couple of months ago for the first time but before that, they always had their ears, feet and bottoms trimmed and a little under the eyes. I love them in long coat but it's a lot of work.

| Yes, it really is. I brush Rosie at least twice a day. Just to keep the tangles out of her hair. It also takes a lot longer to bath and dry them. But I love the look of the longer hair.

| For the most part, my guys have long coats. I trim the feet, do the sanitary trim, and trim and pluck the ears myself. Lollie is my first show dog and in growing her show coat I pretty much leave any hair cutting to my mentor. |

| I do all of the trimming at home. Practice and be patient with your pup and soon it will be a breeze.

Are you able to bath her, blow dry her and brush her!? I would say if you are going to try to do it yourself start out slow.. if she let's you do all those things you will have a better chance. When I first started trimming Pnuts " area" I would have Dh hold him up, he is now use to it where I can do it myself... it is easier with help ( holding him up) his belly area is so small its kinda hard. The bum area is easier to trim.. just take your time and watch some you tube videos.. doing it yourself is easier esp if you are bathing them yourself. Very handy.

| Any recommendations on how to do the sanitary cut, trim feet? I think I will let my Coco's hair grow longer, but wanted to get as much help as well! Thanks OP for this post! it is like you read my mind. I do want Coco's hair to be longer, but I am not interested in letting it get too long! Feel free to PM me as well! |
