I was the same with Harley. It started out I needed help, but I got a pair of mini clippers and just hold the tail up with one hand, and sort of hold his hind legs so he can't move, then take the clippers and zip around the behind area, and under his legs. then I turn him around and grab his "arm pit" area under his front legs and stand him up and do the rest of his area. Takes less than 2 minutes to do once you're good at it.
What I do with Harley is groom and sanitary clip every 1-2 weeks. Then every 3-4 grooms then I take him to the groomer for a trim of any split ends, and she does his face too for me.
