Sounds like your little bread mongers had a feast. When I read your original post, I thought oh boy, it sounds like someone else has little mischief mumching makers . And you certainly seem like a mature, experienced dog owner who knows what to look for in a true emergency and act accordingly. .

Personally, I don't have a lot of confidence in the emergency vet service in my community. I am extra lucky because my regular vet practice has a vet on duty 24/7/365. So in case of a true emergency, I get to see one of the regular vets in the practice that knows my dogs and what is normal for them.

I also think you are a experienced and will take them to the vet if they need it, In all probablity they chewed up the bag in small pieces as they did the bread.
my son was suppose to making his lunch one time, and I caught him feeding the dogs bread , like they were ducklings , my 2 loved it . He does not do it anymore.

It was specifically for that. So maybe you can look into that. I got them at a pet store.
Got Miley at 12 weeks , and for weeks after at 2-3 weeks , she would poop and before I could get to it , it was gone . The Vet at banfield also gave Miley pills it took like a few weeks before she stop.
I wouldn't let her kiss me , until she stop eating poop. LOL !!!!!

Thanks everyone. I surely didn't mean to excite anyone. I knew that what they ate was safe and that the bag was eaten in shreds. They are just so fast and such sneaky little critters. They probably were working as a team!!! lol

I will get some of the pills for all of them to try and stop them from eating their poop. Goodness they are soooo much harder than skin kids... haha

All is good and none of them showed any sign that anything was wrong. So I think we are out of the woods. I will continue to make sure each one poops so no one has a blockage of any kind.

Thanks for your concern

I'm so glad they're ok. I don't think there is anything they won't get into!

Being common doesn't make something okay.

It is most commonly a psychological disorder in dogs and not due to one of the several illnesses it is an indicator of-yes that's true.

You have a real tone to your statement here Google it and get some facts on it yourself, obviously you don't like my statements based on the facts I've researched.

Coprophagia is generally not considered to be a cause for concern (unless the dog is showing other symptoms of EPI). It is almost always a behavioral issue. And while it is gross, a dog eating its own poop probably won't suffer negatively from it.

No offense, but i find it very funny when someone thinks they can tell a tone when they read something.
Anyway, that being said, it is MOST COMMONLY NOT A DISORDER OR ILLNESS OF ANYKIND. And just cause you googled it doesnt mean its a fact!!! You can find anything you want on the internet. You obviously didn't like my statement based on the facts i know. I guess we will have to agree to disagree!!! I have alot of real research not based from the internet! But i have went to school to be a veterinary technician, and have worked at a Veterinary CLinic for.....14 years.

I would expect that one that eats their own will also eat that of other dogs or wild animals and that is when it can be very dangerous.

And while being common does not make something okay, dont you think being as common as it is, we would have alot of very sick dogs from it if it was dangerous??

I totally agree!! eating a wild animals is very very different from eating their own, or the other dogs/cats from the same household.

Only negative I see here is that they don't get kisses (and neither do we) thank goodness!!

It's known to cause eye infections and other eye related issues even as simple as the goo we all dislike seeing-same goo we see from foods with higher allergen contents.

Some people don't over vaccinate their dogs (yes I said that in a way) and it can be extremely dangerous for this group particularly.

Yorkies are prone to bad teeth and causing an excess of bacteria from poop eating is more detrimental for Yorkies than other breeds....

Also it increases many risk factors more than genuinely being the reason for other health issues.

But the most common concern is the spread of worms.
If your dog is on a heart worm med that prevents the other types of worms your dog is safe.
If your dog eats the poop of other dogs they can increase their risk exponentially, and yours as well.

I'd just be more concerned about why they are doing it-the either psychological issue possibly associated or the vitamin/mineral deficiency they are possibly compensating for.

There are more dangerous issues but just wanted to list the most common.

The tone was about the "????? I'd love to know" it's pretty easy to see tone there, but whatever. No poop eating isn't likely going to make your dog deathly ill but healthy no not at all. It's subjective as chemical vs organic in foods we feed them or us and then using that to define a comparison in health.

Illness I see psychological disorder as illness not a physical medical illness in the dog but a behavioral issue. Yes it's very common.

Elvis was a poop eater when he first got (he was literally a pound and a half heavier also loaded with worms and his teeth are in such sickening shape he was compacted with dry poo in him my vet said it's a serious sign of mental illness in dogs if they do it regularly but people and some vets just overlook it as a normal behavior until recently) here until I had him a few months and we only had to work on it a few times.

We never used the pills or anything other than old fashioned-"no leave it" and of course I'm pretty on top of poop clean up I don't like it being in the yard-even though we have a designated poop spot in the back yard.

My Dog Eats Poop, Coprophagia, Ask Victoria Stilwell : Animal Planet

Anyways, I hope everyone with lil pooh eaters has the easy time of breaking it that I did.

It was keeping my object eater from eating objects that was hard.

That was also something Miley did , she would ran and hide behide the pool where all these rabbits were and yes she eat their poop. And a Big Yes that is a very serious problem, her vet was not happy and she had to ran tests on her. I had to go out with her in a big fence yard and watch every thing she try to put in her mouth.
Here in Florida I don't have rabbits all over. Back in ILL one night I let both my babies out , and as I try to put the flash light on them all I saw was all these things running all over the back yard , and Miley and Max chasing them , I was not happy at all. I'm glad that over with now.
