Katie Scarlett's Mommy Donating Member | First Grooming??? Hey guys! Well, I called and scheduled Katie Scarlett's first ever grooming today. We have an appointment for 3:30 next Monday. She is getting quite shaggy. Now, I want to let her top knot grow out some so I can put it up properly. I do not want it to grow too long though. I don't want it draping down her back or braided or anything like that. Although cute, I just don't want it that long. I also don't want to let her grow out to the floor length coat. Even though we groom 2-3 times per day, I don't want her hair that long. So, should I just get a puppy cut or what? I am not sure how to tell the groomer what I want. I don't want it really short, but I do want a little hair so she stays fluffy. Any help? Or any ideas on some haircuts I could do? I love the full length coat, but it's just not for us. I want something shorter, but not too short. I am already nervous about her grooming. I don't want them to shave her down really short, but not exactly sure how to tell them what I want. I think she'll do good with the grooming. She sits still really well for me now while we brush and is almost still during bathy time. I have tried to let her hear the buzz of clippers too. So I hope she will do ok. Any advice for a newbie and first grooming experience? Thank you!!!!

| I had Beamer cut down in June as I had problems with my hands and it was difficult to groom him every day. I kept his topknot as he just wouldn't be Beamer without his topknot Here are the pics when I had him cut down.

| Just be sure she has had all of her shots before you take her to a groomer or around where other dogs are or have been. Regardless of what cut you get she is still going to be a cutie

| Jackson's first hair cut was literally just a trim. Usually groomers don't want to do too much to a pup new to grooming - you want to make the first experience a positive one. Jackson mainly got his face trimmed. His body was just trimmed up, paw pads, ears tipped, eyes, etc. Here was pictures before and then after his first groom.

| I feel like Katie Scarlett and Cody are growing up together! Cody's first grooming appointment is today so I was excited to see this thread. My poor little shagamuffin needs to be trimmed up! (Shaggy puppy pictures attached for your amusement.) If I say I want a puppy cut, they'll leave him a little fluffy right? I just want him to keep a little fluff on his cute little self. |

Katie Scarlett's Mommy Donating Member | Thanks guys! She has finished up her shots. I hope the grooming will go well. I am thinking they may just want to lightly trim her up, especially around her undercarriage and feet. I hope she will take it well. I'll be sure to take before and after pix! And all of your babies are sooo cute! Thanks for sharing pix!

| I like the body kept short but the face longer with a topnot. My groomer knows how to make that look right

Donating YT 500 Club Member | I keep Taycie in the Zhoie/Joey haircut. Basically, her hair is short on her body except for her face and legs. Taycie's hair was all grown out and it was beautiful, but it was alot of work and it matted to much.. As a puppy I just had her trimmed up. I had her face and ears trimmed and the hair around her eyes. Along with feet, nails.. etc. I didn't cut her into this until she was about 14 months old. I love this cut! It keeps her from getting matted and shows of her cute little body! This video of her shows off her cut.. I had just cut it

| If you say a puppy cut they should keep her fluffy. We've had Geno get 2 puppy cuts so far and they always leave his body fluffy. I love it. All they really do is trim around his paws, face, and butt plus cut his nails. They recommend the puppy cut for the first 5-6 months to help him get used to the grooming experience. They also give us things we need to work on with him, like getting him comfortable with being touched in certain places. Don't be afraid to tell them what you want. I also mentioned to them I want the ears up so they cut them in a way that helps with that.
