| ![]() LOL true and look how smart cats are. I know mine are smart, they bark and whine for me to get them an ice cream cup when Mr Frosty ice cream truck comes down the street. Now we have different ice cream trucks that come down the street all day with different music playing but they only do it for Mr Frosty. Now thats smart. Another thing they do is bark to let us know one of the cats are at the door and to let them in. Its like their little job everyday and it is so smart. There are other things too but those are the ones that I just shake my head about

| ![]() That video of Jackson is awesome! I think Roxie is very intelligent. She understands words and actions that I never imagined a dog could understand. I am sure she could do more tricks and whatnot if I spent the time working with her. She LOVED when we took training classes at PetSmart, and she did very well with it.

| ![]() I recently watched my 5 mo old Yorkie, Lilly, figure out a problem that kind of amazed me. I had placed a small Halloween little tykes flashlight on the floor for het to look at. Well, she was trying to drag it to her bed for play but another toy was blocking her way. She stopped and stared at the flashlight and toy for a moment then proceeded to pick up the toy, take it to the other side of the room and dropped it. Happily, she ran back to the flashlight and continued her quest. Me, I sat there with my mouth hanging open! I have to vote that Yorkies are pretty intelligent! |

Yorkie Yakker | ![]() thanks for all ur replies!!! i appreciate that....it does seem to appear that Yorkies have a very high level of intelligence...and that they need alot of stimulation.... i noticed that when Hobo is playing AT TIMES he will IMMEDIATELY stop in the middle of playing and stand completely still...i have BARELY picked up on this 'signal' that he needs to go potty....so last nite it happened again. i am trying to train him to 'go get the leash and bring it to me' when i ask him if he needs to go pee potty. anyway, when he stopped last nite from playing, i said 'what do you want to do?' and he jumped up on me on the couch and all i did was give him a special quizzical look as tho i was questioning him about something and he cocked his little head and turned around and ran for his leash! he actually went and got his leash a 2nd time last nite, but he seldom 'signal's me; i just always try to watch the clock. we haven't had any accidents for a couple of months, but i'd like to get him to actually go to the door with the leash in his mouth!!! I am trying to train him with brushing teeth as well, which i've only tried a few times. any suggestions on techniques? since last nite went really well, i kept telling him 'Hobo was a good boy; he brushed teeth'....and his little tail just wagged and wagged. hopefully, he knows he did a good thing!!! any suggestions would be great!!! THANK YOU!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Yorkie Yakker | ![]() UOTE=Britster;3719310]Jackson thinks he's intelligent: ![]() But, no, really, he's the smartest dog I've ever had (growing up with a Golden Retriever and a German Shepherd, as well as being around other breeds all my life). My dad always says the same thing... he just picks up things sooo fast, he's very in tune to what us humans are doing, he understands so many words, phrases and things, we often have to spell stuff, lol. He is a thinker- I can see his little wheels turning in his head when he gets an idea. He remembers everything. If something bad happens once, he won't forget it. This can get him into trouble too. His mind needs to be occupied a lot, he's not one to just lie around, and he likes to work for things. Just today, he was hungry and he actually carried his food bowl all the way from the kitchen to the living room to tell me he wanted food, LOL![/QUOTE] |

Katie Scarlett's Mommy Donating Member | ![]() So far, Katie Scarlett has shown us that she is very smart, but stubborn too. She's so cute, she gets away with more than she should! Tee hee! She amazes me how clever she is and how she can figure her way out of things. ![]()

Yorkie Yakker | ![]() Britster - that video of yourlittle Jackson is incredible!!!! i've got to teach Hobo some of those things...he knows 'roll over' really well, sit, working on 'shake', 'get your tail and go round and around', and all of his toys....when i get the time, i too, see the wheels spinning in his little head which he just cocks from side to side listening to me!!! it's so precious! |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | ![]() All I know is that Joey is the only dog I've ever had to spell around. I'm beginning to think he knows what T-R-E-A-T spells.

| ![]() I don't know if Snoopy is not that smart or if he's smart enough to figure out he doesn't want to do what we ask unless there's a yummy treat involved. He does have mental telepathy though. Just sending it--and no one here has the ability to pick it up. ![]()
