| Toys/Items to keep Yorkies Busy I work full time and while I am away from the house I try to make sure that my pup has more than enough things to keep her busy. Of course, without a puppy cam i have no clue if she gets super bored during teh day or entertains herself with toys i have out for her. She may be sleeping all day for all i know....but what are some good things to haev that are sure to be fun for her to pass the time. we have ropes, chew toys, bones, a kong that we fill up before we leave for the day...anything else? |

| Well this may not be one for when your not home but mine love there cuz balls. They are balls with feet on them and they are rubber and just the right sixe for a yorkie to carry in mouth and play fetch with. They are my yorkies favorite toys and we have like 10 of them because they carry and leave them every where. We get them at petsmart and petco but I think you can get them online also. Also they like the stuffed animals without stuffing. Or any toy that is small enough they can put in their mouth and carry. The small kong with yogurt or peanut butter frozen in them is good too

Katie Scarlett's Mommy Donating Member | I've had several tell me they love that 'hide a squirrel' toy thingie. I need to look into that. Katie Scarlett needs something to keep her busy. Even though I work from home, when I'm at my desk she goes in her x-pen right next to my desk. I put toys in there and she can see me, but she'll mainly just sit and stare at me with those eyes. I need something to keep her engaged. She will play with her stuffed Kong for about 30 minutes and chew on a bully stick for about an hour, but other than that, the other toys get maybe 10 min max of her attention. LOL

YT 1000 Club Member | One of the most enduring (several generations) Toys that my Yorkies have enjoyed, is one that I (accidentally) came up with on my own. I have a bad Back, and frequently make/extend Toys, where I can just sit, and have enough length where they can romp back and forth without me bending over. A couple of their/My favorites are a couple or Tube Sox tied together, and an elongated Raccoon type Toy, with Squeakers in both ends. HA, anyway, let me get to the point ! I got them a short Double Knotted plain Rope Toy, which they liked, and it was one of those weeks, where my back was worse than usual. I tied a Nylon Rope to it, and then tied the other end to a sturdy Table, hanging the Toy down within about 3-4" from the Floor. GEES, did that free up a lot of my time ! ! ! They pulled on it, trying to get it away from the Table, they did Body Slams against it, when passing by. And when it would slip out of their mouths, and swing around wildly, they would chase it with all their might, and that simple hanging Toy has lasted for over THREE years now !

I think hide-a-squirrel is a great toy if you work from home because the whole fun of the toy is they empty out the squirrels and bring it to you to fill up, so I don't know if it will keep them busy alone. Kaos probably would get bored fast. I agree with the frozen kong. I know Kaos mostly sleeps if I am away, sometimes he takes a stuffed animal or two out but thats it.

| Norman likes his deer antler chews - they last forever. He won a Halloween contest and got a 'Chewber' as a prize - he loves it! Chewber - More than a fetch toy! |

| The thing my dog loved more than anything else when I worked outside the home was sitting on the little table by the window and watching for his family to come home. I don't think he spent the whole day there but I know when I was home he knew what time the kids should be home and would sit an look out the window for them for about a half hour before they got home. If possible get a table and maybe a step for your little one to get up on the table with. Ours was beside a couch that was by the window. At least they can watch the birds and squirrels. We lived back away from the road so people could not see him but he could see us heading up the driveway. |

| Kong! All of the dogs I dogsit have Kongs left for them when I leave. You can stick some kibble, or treats, inside the Kong. Then stuff or 'seal' it with yogurt, canned food, etc, and freeze it. Makes a long-lasting treat!

YT 1000 Club Member | gracielove, HA HA YEA, both mine do the same thing ! Actually I have several "step/ramps" which are placed around, more on the Second Floor of the house. Both mine are up and looking out the front window, anxiously expecting the Postman, who they think they run off daily ! It's really SO easy to make a "outward view" for them. I've used an Ottoman, to the seat of a Chair, then onto a Table, which is pushed up against the Sill of the Window, making a nice easy ascend and descend for them. In another place, I've used an old Cardboard Box. Seems like the simpler you make things for them, the better they like it. Both of mine are quite protective and territorial. I also think that they take on that posture from their owners. Either a little or a lot. It just so happens that I don't mind at all, when they "alarm", when they see something out there. I highly praise them each time it's warranted, and just let it go if it's not so bad. But I never chastise them for doing it, just play it down when they're wrong. But, beyond the "praise" for getting it right, I sincerely think that they think they are personally involved with the security here. It's like they have a Job to do, and are glad they can do it well. The older I get, the more I appreciate it that they have a good set of Ears, Eyes, Nose, are light sleepers and have a loud Bark. If those "dogless" people only knew, how comforting it was, having a Dog sleeping at the Foot of your Bed was, there would be NO NEED for Shelters.

| I really like the Busy Buddy. BUSY BUDDY dog TOY TWIST N TREAT small twist and treat | eBay Regular small kibble works great. You can adjust the holes. You can shut it all the way but they can smell it and will work it open - takes more time. They flip and roll around, really keeps their interest. You can unscrew it all the way and pop it in the dishwasher. HUGE improvement over things like a Buster Cube. These are TOUGH. My Border Collie steals it and has not done any damage in a year. Soft so they don't hurt their teeth. All in all, a GREAT toy

| Thank you! That's so kind of you. Exactly as you described it! I'm just back from 'Pets at Home' with his rope thing (he'd demolished all his others!) so will sort that out later Sally + Harry x |
