| Kaos gets a light sweater or a coat starting at about 68 degrees. Anything below 65 he needs a jacket or he shakes. How big is she? The smaller ones tend to get colder. Kaos is only 4.5 lbs.

| My really scientific rule is, if I'm cold and I want a sweater, my yorkie needs one too.

| We play by that rule too. There's so much more to how it feels than just the temperature. If the temperature is lower, but it's sunny and calm out, Levi and I might not need jackets. But if it's raining, windy, cloudy...

| We go by this as well They have shorter coats and get cold easily so if I wear a sweatshirt, they do too!

| great question & i agree totally with the responses, i have 2 dogs one is not a yorkie & she has a thicker coat. i lower the heat during the day when @ work & @ night. I was just out today looking for a comfortable sweater that my oliver would be comfortable in. can't be too big or they get tangled, or pee on the bottom. again agree if u need a sweater or blanket so does a yorkie. |

| With my big boy, he tolerates cold really really well. So I usually don't start putting a jacket on him until it's in the 40's. It depends, too, like if we are going on a walk when it's real sunny but only like 45-50, a jacket isn't needed. If the sun is not out, I'll put something on him. He even handles snow great; if it's sunny and snow on the ground, he goes out and plays in it without a jacket. I try to put one on him though if I know we're going to be out there for a while.

No Longer a Member | Same rule in my house, if it's cold enough for me to need a sweater Rizz wears a sweater, if it's just a long sleeve t-shirt weather I may have him go nekked, or he'll wear a tee shirt. When I'm layering up with a coat I'll either put on one of his heavy sweaters or he'll wear one of his coats. When snow hits I'll have him wear some booties to protect his paws from not only the icy coldness, but from road salts (very painful on puppy paws). |

| I think it also depends where you live. I'm up in Canada, and I have a 3 way jacket. If it's just plain cold and I have to wear my down jacket, I put his fleece liner on. If it's windy or raining I put the outer shell on that's water proof. If it's snowing I put them together for his real winter jacket.

| I think a lot depends on the dog. Mine gets cold pretty easy like in the summer unless she is outside she has to have a shirt on or the ac is to cold for her and in the winter its sweaters whether she is outside or inside. Fall is kinda tricky it goes from cold in the morning to kinda nice back to cold at night so sometimes I leave her fleece night gown on until it starts warming up put a kinda heavy shirt or light sweater on during the day and have to put something a little thicker on in the evening with the temps start dropping and she sleeps in her fleece nightie at night. Callie is 16 pounds so I'm not sure it necessarily has to do with weight. My moms yorkie Sammy doesn't get very cold and when Callie has to have a sweater on he normally does great in just tshirt and he too is about 16 pounds.

| 56 degrees in my house when we woke up this morning was definately too cold for ZoE. She jumped up on the chaise lounge (wear she gets groomed/dressed, etc) and just stood there waiting for a sweater. We went with a pink sweat shirt hoodie...yet she was still cold cos she took herself right off to her blanket-draped crate to snuggle. Their behaviour definately lets you know if they're cold. I agree with the others...if you're cold, your pup probably is.
