| YT 1000 Club Member | Before I feed Romeo a "new" food I always check with the vet to ensure it's safe. Fortunately I have a great relationship with the vet's office and they welcome telephone questions.

| Our Toto prefers veggies to meat. Her vet takes all her food intake per day into account and says it's fine because she is getting everything that she needs. At first she would push all her chicken aside and only eat her veggies but now she is eating her meat and veggies again ... healthy as a little "horse"!

| YT 1000 Club Member | BettyAnne, at first Romeo would only eat vegetables and fruits and walk away from meat. I was very worried because I know he needs protein so I consulted his vet who assured me his diet was fine and he's healthy. After maybe a year of what I would call a "vegetarian only" diet I introduced chicken to Romeo -- much to my surprise he ate it. He will eat meat now but most days he prefers veggies and fruits to meat. Like you I consult with his vet on his diet and I'm happy to say this is one healthy little boy!

| YT 1000 Club Member | Thanks everyone for the responses to my post! I can sleep well knowing that I have a support team in that others too are feeding their babies veggies and fruits (as long as we know what should and should NOT be fed). I enjoy my Romeo more and more each day and love chasing him around just so that I can watch him "hop like a rabbit".

Toto's vet laughed [Yorkies are her specialty] because she had never had one do that before. Toto doesn't get a bite of anything unless it's approved so she knew what she was eating and that she was getting enough protein without the meat. That's been several years ago but even now, if she leaves anything in her bowl, it's meat! The only problem food that I had to stop was English peas because of the high sugar content. She began to gain weight.
