| Neuter Hi, I am getting my dog neutered tomorrow. He is 10 months old. How was your dogs behavior after getting him neutered? He feels the need to mark his territory everywhere he goes. Even when we go home where there is another dog present he pees everywhere and he does not do this at my home. Do you think this behavior will decrease when he is neutered? Also, he is very hyper what happens after he is neutered? Thanks. |

| The marking may or may not go away since its an established habit now but neutering cant hurt

| We had Ozzy neutered at 6-1/2 months. Before that, walks were filled with frequent "leg lift" stops. That's stopped now. Otherwise, he behaves exactly the same. He's just as energetic. He recovered very quickly. We ended up going with the laser surgery since the vet said it was less traumatic and easier to heal from. I'd say within two days he was totally great; in fact, it was hard to keep him from jumping and running as is normal for even a few days.

| Behavior wise and personality, Ive heard people say that they change or can. I did not see this. Mine is the same old dog. lol I think my dog was done around 7 months give or take a month. He was very sore for two to three days and was quite pitiful he seemed to hurt him to move or walk or sit down. But after about 2-3 days. He was his self again. I think its harder on the females. I have a Lhasa apso and when she was fixed she was kinda down for about a week not being active. But the marking, I agree with Chachi, I got my yorkie in Nov 09 when we was 3 months old, and the end of Feb of '10 I brough home a second dog since I fell in love w him so much. He didnt take to her right away and they still arent Lovey, they kinda do their own thing and occasionally play fight and wrestle but thats the extent of thier dealings. But he started marking after I brought her home but before he was neutered. The neutering didn't stop it. He continued. Stopped the humping but not the marking. I talked to my vet about it back in the spring I guess it was and he said to crate train him again even though he was potty trained. He said if I didnt that he'd probably always do it because it was a learned thing. But thankfully to say, he's done very little in the last few months. And I never did do what the vet said to... lol But he did the other day pee in the house.. but very few times in two or three months. So, Im hoping he will be stopping.. He's potty trained and uses the pee pads perfectly. Occasionally he'll do business else where, but I swear its for spite. lol Because he regularly uses his pee pads. But the hiking in the house is deffinately marking because he always does it at a corner of something, or beside and object like toys or something. He has his "places". I dont take him out for walks like I should ( i know i know) but when I do, oh boy...... he pees on everything. Stopping every few places. He's hikes until theres nothing left and he just raises his leg. lol |
