| ![]() So Lola is almost 5 months old, we got her at 3ish. We had her sleeping in the bed at first and i quickly learned that we didnt want that, both having day jobs and needing our rest as well. So we got her to do the crate at night downstairs adn she was okay. i went away for work last week for a few days, and my fiance (being lonely without me) wanted her to sleep inthe bed while i was gone.... Well, now i am back and last night was miserable! she barked, cried, would not stop! tried to ignore it for an hour and bc we ilive in a complex i couldnt ahve my neighbors dealing with taht. so up i got at 3am, took her outside, back into her crate/playpen set up. again, cry cry bark bark. up again at 5am took outside. back to her area, bark bark bark. put her in bed with us and she was fine. i feel like the 3 days that he broke her routine now screwd up her pattern and i cant hae anothe rnight of no sleep when i have a full day of work ahead. should i bring teh crate or pen up into the roomt onight? ![]() |

| ![]() Oh oh! Yep, the original plan's been turned upside down! ![]() It's always worse when there are other neighbours etc. to consider - you feel so guilty about waking/upsetting/annoying everyone - and everything sounds 10x louder in the dead of night?!! In that situation - what I would do is to bring the whole crate into your room tonight with the crate door shut. A sharp 'shush' or 'no' if she starts moaning ![]() ![]() |

| ![]() Yes it does, that was what i was considering. When she barks i know its bc she wants to know she is not alone and expects us now to go get her. she was fine for a few weeks in crate, now she likes the bed i guess whiel i was gone and now beign downstairs is scary? so i will bring the crate up staris, cover it and let her stay in the room with us. the barking was non stop last night, normally she did it then fell asleep, yest it was so frustrating. during the day she is okay and sleeps mostly. when i shut the door i stay for a few minutes to listen, she doesnt bark at all! |

| ![]() Awwww, I don't blame her, night-times are so different from day-times! And she's been spoilt for a few days - it'll take her a while to re-adjust, but she will! ![]() |

| ![]() Yep, he spoiled her ![]() ![]() You might want to consider buying a second crate so you don't have to drag this one up and down stairs every single day. She just wants to be near you, and hopefully if she knows you're right there, she will hush up and just sleep through the night. Good luck ![]()

| ![]() Can you try getting her a snuggle puppy?!?! It has a plastic red heartbeat inside you can turn on and off..... I got Riley the Brown Mutt and was actually able to have it sent federal express to the breeder before I picked him up. So it also had mommy & daddy's scent on it. =) Or does she already have something like this? Snuggle Puppies - Snuggle Puppy - In Stock |

| ![]() She might not bark if she was in your room and could see you. I would be scared and lonely down stairs by myself too.

| ![]() Harrysmum gave good advice. It will be easier to correct Lola if she is in your room. I would like to add this, 1. it may help to cover her crate and 2. It is ok to use "Enough or Quiet" wait 5 seconds to let her respond. And if she is still whining or barking you can squirt her with water from a spray bottle. One quick squirt will break momentum, and keep her from getting all wound up.

YT 1000 Club Member | ![]() My two are a little older at 3yo & 1yo, I have a Stairs set up for them to access the Bed, and both of them have free access to the whole house, potty areas included 24/7. I note they go... potty I think, several times a night, then return when they want to, sometimes they go individually. Could a set of Stairs be helpful ?

| ![]() Thanks for the replies. Last night went horrible again. I brought her crate into my room and covered it with a blanket, she barked and barked. i put her crate next to my bed and had my hand by it to smell me, to no avail. we put her crate on other side of room covered and she barked and barked. i took her outside, she didnt pee or anything, back to the crate insdie and barked. to the point my fiance had to go sleep downstairs and i put her back in teh bed with me. she fell asleep laying on my legs, quiet and happy as a clam. perhapsi am never going to win this battle of sleeping in the crate. esp when she is home alone most of the day i can see why she wants to not be kept in a crate at night. the one problme, she jumped OFF the bed and pooped on teh floor last night, and proceeded to walk around the room on my beige rug with poop paw prints. oh god its bad ![]() dont know what to do. was considering going home to my parents for the weekend and letting her cry it out int he crate there so no one will care... |

Nearly everyone here will tell you the same thing...Yorkies are just like human babies...and really never emotionally grow past the toddler stage...this is your life with a Yorkie. Now it's not all bad...it's just like I was telling my DIL, our new Grandbaby wants to reverse his nights & days but, I reassured her that definitely by Kindergarten...he'll definitely be sleeping through the night...or was it Junior High ![]() ![]() So, it'll be rough right now but, with consistency with both you & Papa on the "same" page as far as training...this too will pass. You need to decide on a plan and stick to it every day and every night. Once you take Lola to your bed...you have now confused her. She is used to sleeping with her Momma & littermates and now she is expected to sleep not only alone but in another section of the house. You can see how that will induce fear, anxiety and then she barks & cries for you to rescue her. If she were my Lola...I would allow her to sleep with me. For me, it's actually easier and now that my girls have grown they can hold their bladders & bowels till morning. Lola still has a tiny bladder and bowel that cannot wait till morning whether in your bed or in her crate. So, really in my eyes...there is no difference as to where it will be easier for Lola to slumber. You still must take her out to potty regardless. As long as you focus on the light at the end of the tunnel...you & Lola will get through this none the worse for wear and both of you will be happy in the end if you just keep it simple. Just remember...she IS a baby...technically for the next two years and for most Yorkies it can be an entire lifetime. ![]()

| ![]() The weir part is I get mixed message on here. Some say if she can see u she will be ok. Lola sees you and barks because she wants u to come get her. When she was in the other room she quieted down assuming we weren't there. Now I am not sure why she barks even while in room next to my bed. She has blankets and toys and a ticking clock in her crate. I don't mind her sleeping with me but she does crawl and lick and jump on our heads waking us up and we both wrk full time jobs. I am up with her to take her out at around 6am. I'm just not sure where out of nowhere this barking came from. She never barked this way before I left on my trip. Now she barks Alot even when it's not bedtime |
