| Little Dog Syndrome Ok so i just wanted to talk about something fun with you guys to end my night. The Little Dog Syndrome is something that about 98.9% of all yorkies have, and i just want to know the craziest thing your baby has ever done because of it. If your dog is apart of the 1.1% that doesn't have this syndrome then let me know cause i am just dying to see a yorkie who actually behaves like he's only 7 inches tall. P.S: for those that don't know what the little man syndrome is, its when you have a small dog who thinks he's the size of a great dane!!!

| I have a little 6 pound pint size yorkie and a 15 pound Lhasa apso. The yorkie is 5-6 months older but the Lhasa, the (younger one) is two and a half times his size. He will wrestle and play fight her big time, she practically body slams him, but he stays in there and holds his own. Also we have a neighbor hood cat that shows up daily or every few days like clock work and has for a year or more. It comes just to visit our outdoor cat I guess. Now, Our dogs dont seem to mind our cat. She doesnt live in side but she gets to run through the house when the front door opens, she'll always sneak in and run through the house. The dogs seem to like her and will approach her very friendly excited to see her. Then out she goes back to the great out doors. But this neighborhood cat comes ever so often and when my yorkie gets sight of it on the back porch he will go to the back door in the kitchen and watch it the whole time its there and he'll be squalling at the top of his lungs dying to get to this cat outsisde. Ive often wondered what he'd do if I opened the door and let him meet it just one time.... but he will literally stand at the back door and scream. Ever heard a yorkie scream? lol Its ear piercing and it will make you jump out of your skin when he gets to barking at something "exciting" lol. Another example of our "Little Big dog" syndrome: Our yorkie runs to the tv and jumps up and down and barks every time he sees a dog. We no longer can watch animal planet, Americas Funniest Videos, Movies with Dogs or even commercials with dogs. He will stand and jump up at the tv barking as long as they are on.... did I mention he's loud? lol Also, he sometimes considers cows, horses, and the occasional elephant or cartoon dog on TV as to be " real dogs" too.... This weekend we had a teen boy in the neighborhood mow our yard. This young fella also works with horses and decided to ride his horse down the road to our house and tied it to a tree while he proceeded to cut the grass. Well, the horse must have been out of site from the window, but when the young fellow was done and we paid him and he was on his way, he got up on his horse and rode it up through the yard. Our dog finally got his sights on the horse and got to see it, and well yeah, he went to barking and screaming at it. But it got to see a real live horse in his yard.It was cute to watch, he's only seenemon TV. lol I like these little " Big dogs in small packages". As they say...... Size doesnt matter..... lol :O) Last edited by Sgt_Cooper; 09-26-2011 at 06:29 PM. |

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | Eddie is 9 pounds and truly thinks he's a big dog. No doubt in his mind, and he's NEVER shown any fear of a big dog. He has hoarding issues, which makes it worse. I literally had to pull him off my Lab's lip one time. He was hanging from it! On other occasions, he snapped at a weimaraner and a Bernese mountain dog, sending them both scurrying. Just so you don't think I'm a completely terrible dog owner, I have addressed his dog aggression issues and he's improved. I was terrified when I introduced 4-pound Jillie to our pack, but she's the only dog who will stand up to Eddie. She doesn't do it with force, though. She's sneaky. She steals his toys and knows she can outrun him. She's so fast that Eddie backs down to her because he knows he can't catch her. Occasionally, I'll hear Eddie woof in the yard and I'll discover Jillie crouched in pre-pounce mode blocking his path from coming into the house. She's more fearful of the world in general, but she can handle herself when she has to.

| Suzi thinks she is a huge dog. She does not like men she does not know and has even scared off a few guys coming to our door. She loves looking down at unsuspecting people walking on the sidewalk from our balcony. I tell her she is not a pitbull and to calm down! But she will presist. When the people walk by it only reinforces Suzi's larger then life personality. I am glad she is protective , but it can be a little shocking.

| No, I can honestly say Jackson doesn't have the stereotypical "little dog syndrome". Now, he thinks he's a big dog in a little dog's body, meaning he does everything a big dog can do and wants to be a part of it all (whether it's diving into the pool, plowing through 4ft of snow, or running on the beach) but he doesn't have that attitude. Big dogs can be barking at us through a fence on our walk and he could care less. People can by walk our car and he doesn't care, he's not the typical "yappy" little dog. Don't get me wrong, he can be vocal, he likes to bark at the quads that drive by at my dads house and stuff, but it's not him thinking he's bigger, he's just having a blast LOL. He gets along fine with big dogs too and knows his place... he would never push his luck, I think he knows they are much bigger than him. Oh the only time he really goes into alert is when someone comes in the door. It's a high pitched ruffruffruff for the first few seconds until he notices it's someone he knows or I tell him to shut up

Senior Yorkie Talker | Bentley thinks he's huge. He's only 4.5lbs. A good example...the other day we were on our daily walk and out of no where these two pitbull puppies (much bigger than Bentley, puppies or not) came around the corner and were trying to play and Bentley threw a fit. He was lunging and growling at them. He's very protective of our children (one 2 yr old and one 6 month old) and they were with us. Guess he just wasn't comfortable with them that close to the stroller. Thank goodness they were only puppies. Anytime we are on a walk we go to the other side of the street when we see another dog and usually the owner says, "oh, he/she wouldn't hurt him." My response is always, "oh, I'm not worried about your dog hurting him, I'm worried about what he may do to yours." They always look at me like I'm joking but really, he's a pit bull in a yorkie body. Haha! |

| Dudley is 4lbs. and knows exactly what toys are his and if he gets a new one and I tell Kayla, Lexi, its Duds, he will bark and bark. He know when he gets something new to wear, he acts the same way. He is so funny. He thinks he is so big until he goes out in the backyard and there is a huge dog that lives behind us and when he barks, Dudley runs 90mi. an hr. to the back door. So much for my guard dog. lol!!! |

| Copper seems to be fearless at times also. He wants to go right up to big dogs and barks (through the window) at any animal outside. We call him our "Vicious Guard Dog."

| The funniest moment I have had was with Teddy when he was still a 6 pound boney waif. We were out walking and passed our neighbor walking his large dog. The large dog pulled toward us and barked at Teddy, who wasn't the least bit intimidated. Teddy strutted his direction with his nose in the air, waved his tail, and then looked at me as if to say, "Ha, wasn't that great?" Max barks like mad at all of the big dogs in the neighborhood, but if the other dog comes back at him, he hides behind me.
