| Car Seats I am shopping for car seats for my furbaby. Can anyone recommend a seat for the backseat that is high enough for them to see outside. The ones I am finding are only lap high. She loves to look out the window. Thanks. Kate |

| Kate, I love these! I have the backseat ones and also a console one because the airbag won't hit that area of the car. I was able to get mine on ebay but lots of companies sell the lookout seats. If you shop around you might get a better price. http://www.snoozer-dog-beds.com/dogcarseats.htm

| I agree with Cindy the Look Out car seats are GREAT! I purchased one a few weeks ago thinking that Ted would hate it and put up a real fuss but our experience has been the exact opposite because it is not only very comfy but they can see out. It's one of the best investments I have made for him...

| Question for Cindy and Shelly Thanks so much, but I am confused. There are so many styles. Did you get the "My Buddy Lookout" which states it is only for back seats? Or, did you get the Look Out 1? Sadie weighs 6 lbs. so I am wondering if she would be able to lay down on these as well as sit up? How do your Yorkies like riding in the back seat alone? It makes me feel guilty just to think that I won't be in the back seat with them - LOL. Are they easy to install? Right now I have a front car seat, and the air bag thing really bothers me, and I don't feel safe letting her ride in the front seat anymore. Sorry to bother you again, but thanks a million. | I'm glad you asked this question as I am considering getting one for Joey. Poor thing gets carsick if the rides are very long (> 10 minutes). I'm thinking that being able to see out might help him. As far as the airbag, most newer cars have sensors such that the airbag only deploys if there is sufficient weight in the seat. I'm figuring a Yorkie wouldn't be that heavy. You might check your owner's manual to see if this is true for your car! Do these beds have some form of restraint to keep the Yorkie there (and to keep them from becoming airborne in case of accident)? |

this seat is larger and very spacious. Best of all it is set up in a way that the air bags wouldn't affect it. So, sorry I can't help you in regard to them riding in the back seat. I personally doubt that Teddy would tolerate that and that's why I went the route I did. It is very simple to install. I think we had it set up in minutes. Maybe Cindy could give you a better insight in regard to the back seat ones since she has both. I know there are a few other members that also have this type of seat so maybe some of them will add their opinion to help make your choice easier. As far as laying down goes lol...Ted not only lays but at times he rolls over on his back 4 paws to the sky. I can't believe he loves it so much to be honest but it makes me feel safer for both of us.

yorkie by standard isn't heavy enough to activate the airbag to deploy in the event of an accident. It does come with a strap sort of thing that attaches to their harness to keep them from going any place. They have just enough length to move around comfortably and I believe you can adjust the length to your preference. Hope that helps!

I will try and answer your questions as their are so many choices. I was very lucky when I got mine because a friend of mine already had her's and she walked me through this. You will probably think I am nuts but I have 2 of the Lookout 1, 1 Buddy and 2 consoles. I have 10 dogs so I can put 2 of the lookouts and 1 buddy in the back seat and fill all 3 of them with the dogs. All of my dogs wear harness's and the lookout seats come with a strap with latches so once you have the dogs in the seats you wrap the strap around the top part of the seatbelt and hook it to their harness. Here is the link from snoozer on how to install the seats. http://www.snoozer-dog-beds.com/safe.htm Once they came out with the snoozer consoles I picked up the 2 different sizes because I work for an automotive company and I am exchanging company cars every 3 months. The consoles are based on the kind of car/truck you drive. The car size is small and only really works for my 3# girl or 4#boy. The truck size is great for my 5/6# dogs. I find that all of my dogs will lay down in any of the lookout seats and go to sleep. They also like to get use them in the house to sleep. I don't know what size your little one is and if you were planning on having 2 yorkies but I can easily put my 2 little ones together in the Lookout 1 but if I was planning for long term I probably would get the buddy seat and then you wouldn't have to buy another one down the road. While it is true many of the newer trucks have the sensor in the front passenger seats alot of the cars don't but this could change but the vehicle you drive today might not be the vehicle you drive in a couple of years. Your lookout seat will last a life time so you want to plan for something that works in all cars/trucks. I think the safest place for your furbaby is in the backseat just like they advise people with their human children. It is also less distraction for me but you will have to make that choice just like humans do with their children. I do know my gang loves to sit up high and watch what is going on around them. It does get a little crazy when we come to a stop light and someone in the next car has a big dog. My gang will go crazy! In terms of car sickness I do think it is helpful as they have a firmer foothold with these beds, can look out and are not moving all over the backseat, again just like a human. Just to be on the safe side I do put towels on each seat so it is an easier clean up than taking the cover off and washing. Taking off the cover is easier but putting it back on a piece of foam is a little tougher. Kate if you want to have me call you and talk live just PM me with your phone number and I will answer any questions you might have. Cindy

| We have one by Outward Hound. It was $20 at Petsmart. I believe it is meant for the front seat but we use it in the back seat because we have a split bench. You have to have either captains chairs or a split bench AND a headrest to put it in the back, but we do so that works out well. Loki can curl up in a ball and sleep or he can sit and look out the window. I bought him a step in harness that I can put right over his clothes or whatever to attach to the leash clip. I don't feel good about attaching it to his collar should we get in an accident. He has had his seat since we first got him so he knows he can't get out and he must sit quietly. Petsmart This hangs off of the seat. The picture shows it resting on the seat but that's not how we have ours set up.

| Cindy, Heck, no 4, I don't think you are nuts. You sound like an avid dog lover. I would love to drive by your car with all of those dogs in the back seat. What a riot! Thanks so much for the great detailed email. Wow! You answered all of my questions, so now I just need to figure out which one to get. Thanks again, and Happy Turkey Day. | Erin, This is such a great site, and I am so glad that I found it. We have a Petsmart an hour away, so I will look at what Cindy suggested, as well as your Outward Hound seat. | I just bought this one for Dennis, check it out. It sits on a nice suitcase, and it is high enough for him to look out and he can be laying down. He loves it, and so do I. Sue |

| Sue, Thank you so much for the url, and info. I have plenty to choose from now, and I like the suitcase idea. Kate Quote:
