As far as the airbag, most newer cars have sensors such that the airbag only deploys if there is sufficient weight in the seat. I'm figuring a Yorkie wouldn't be that heavy. You might check your owner's manual to see if this is true for your car!

Do these beds have some form of restraint to keep the Yorkie there (and to keep them from becoming airborne in case of accident)?
We actually do have the seat sensors in our Durango and even Ted a big
yorkie by standard isn't heavy enough to activate the airbag to deploy in
the event of an accident.
It does come with a strap sort of thing that attaches to their harness to
keep them from going any place. They have just enough length to move
around comfortably and I believe you can adjust the length to your
preference. Hope that helps!
