| New to YorkieTalk and new fourteen week Yorkie. Hello, I am a brand new member and joined to learn more about raising my new 14 week old Yorkie puppy. Please share your feeding guidelines. The breeder in California that I purchased my puppy feeds his puppies Science Diet Toy food. We have only had our puppy for three days now and he is eating and playing and enjoying his new family. He is a sweet and cut puppy. He is only three pounds. Lila |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Congratulations, I think dogs do better if you keep them on the same food at least a week, and even better a month. That way you can tell if any upsets are from the food or something else. People have strong opinions here on food; some people love Science Diet, while others hate it. I try to look for a food that has a named meat as the first ingredient. Here's a site that will help teach you some basic in nutrition. The Dog Food Project - Identifying better products I don't think it's good to switch too much the first few months, and if you do switch, add the new food to the old, and do it very gradually.

| Thank you for your greeting. I appreciate your information regarding Milo's feeding. The breeder gave me a sample of his food which is the Science Diet "Toy Food". I am feeding that as he has only been with us for about four days. I agree that I need to give him the same food that he has been eating with his breeder. Does he need an additional vitamins now?
