| I am doing the same thing . my heart goes out to this family and little Deeogi .I thought of him all last night and very, very concerned. PLease do nto blame yourself. This was not your fault and I don't think nothing could of been done differently. Prayers and warm thoughts are coming to you and your family and especially to Deeogi.

| Thank you so much everyone for your prayers and good wishes. He is doing better swelling has gone down. I went to see him earlier today and they told me he had vomited 3 times so they need to keep him another day. Owner of the pit is upset now because vet bills are so high. She paid for surgery but now she is giving us a hard time about the rest of the bill $654 needs to be paid by tomorrow. I am currently unemployed through the summer I work at a school and because of budget will not be working for 3 months I do not have money to pay this bill. I went over to her house earlier to give her an update on Deeogi and tell show her pics of his injuries. i also mentioned to her that one of his front legs was severely damaged and that it probably happened when the pit pulled him under the fence. She got very upset and said there is no way that happened Tank (that's pit's name) would never have pulled your yorkie through fence. I asked then how did his leg get so torn up? she didn't respond. I reminded her that my yorkies never dig holes or try to get out of our backyard. She told me she didn't have anymore money to pay anything else. I left to go see Deeogi and while I was gone my daughter said that she was taking picture of the fence. This stressed me out even more because I don't know what she's up to. So if she tries to argue that my yorkie got out on his own (which I already know didn't happen) isn't she still liable because her pit was on my property? For those of you who said to call animal control - I am afraid to because I have 5 yorkies 1 chihuahua rescue and 1 white boxer rescue. I also dog sit other yorkies every so often. So I know she would also report me Any advice appreciated

| I agree. I would take my chances. That pit bull will attack again. Might be one of yours or someone else's. She can take all the pictures she wants...she is still responsible imho. Animal control can advise you.

Your dogs were fenced and controled in your yard. It doesn't matter hoe many pictures she takes of the fence, her dog was the agressor. And with it being a pit, it doens't look good for her either. Don't quote me, California law, as well as city and counties laws, are all different in each state. However, I know for alot of counties in Michigan there needs to be a fencedd in area or the dog needs to be on a leash if off the property. Another thing as well, is the fence yours, or the neighbors? Have there been any previous incidents reported with the dog? You need to get all of your vet bills, injury pictures, and vet statement lined up so you can make a police report asap. Fastrer you do, the better it will be if this goes to court.

I wish I could tell you what to do about that bill. It is so wrong on her part to refuse to pay it. ... and you do not want to bring Deeogi home before he is ready because animals that have been attacked and hurt like he was can have some major issues during their recovery that we cannot deal with at home. Can you apply for Care Credit? Does your vet accept it? At least you could do that until you can make her pay. I would take her to court if need be. That bill is her responsibility. Makes me so mad. I cannot imagine owning a dog that would do something like that and then leaving the owner high and dry.

| Sounds to me like you need to get a lwayer involved and start documenting everything and taking pictures. Make sure you keep all of your vet bills and records. She is probably worried about a lawsuit. I understand about you not calling animal control afraid they can ticket you for having too many animals on your property. But something needs to be done before this dog hurts someone else. I am so sorry you are having to go through this, my prayers are with you and your family. It is harder if you were friends with your neighbor. If her dog was not contained she can be fined if you have a leash law in your state.
