Kicked out of my first store.

No, admonished because she said she got kicked out so should be MORE SNEAKY. The OP is clearly trying to hide the fact that her dog is in the stores. My point is that if your dog isn't allowed into a place, then don't try to sneak it by. Don't cause a scene about it (not saying the OP did), don't whine about it. Deal with it fairly and in a mature manner.

I love to take my fur babies to PetSmart... Has anyone had an experience where their baby got a parasite or disease from going there? Maybe I've been naive... My Max and Marley are showstoppers... Max a tiny 'teacup'; Marley a substantial 'teapot'... shoppers come from all around the store to admire my 'kids', visit, and ask questions about Yorkie health and maintenance. I always tell them they should check out Yorkietalk.com -- waaayyy before they get their first Yorkie, so they will be prepared.

No store is under any obligation to let in any dog that isn't a service animal. They don't have to explain their reasons or even post it. In fact, they don't even have to have a reason. When it doubt, ask. Being sneaky about it does a disservice to all responsible pet owners.

I would like to say that In my second post....as I stated previously, I restated that I would stay out of stores that did not allow dogs, and I already did not go in stores that served food...READ people...READ. I am also not talking about department stores...I was talking about running in convienence stores to quickly grab a soda or something...I had stated that in my second post also....sorry I stated the sneaky thing, however I did say in my second post the correction........

I am sure everyone has a reason to be on here, Like me, most are on here to learn....I learned that some people are just trouble makers. So on that note, I am staying out of stores that serve food as I thought I was doing, not all Walmarts are Super Walmarts, Ours isn't. And disregard what ever you want DJDB. Anything could happen when you bring your dog anywhere there are other animals. I don't want to take a chance with my babies. They can stay home or like I said go for car rides and that's it. I don't need or want people oogling over my babies. I don't want people touching them. Just like I didn't want strangers touching my children when they were small. Back off!! Who knows what people are carrying!!

We did read. What some of us are saying is that unless you have express permission to take your dog in somewhere then it's a better idea to not even attempt to take them in at all. Not everyone loves dogs and some people are extremely allergic to them. All it takes is a second to ask and then there aren't any hurt feelings. If more people did it that way, I believe more stores would be open to letting people with dogs in.

I've never been asked to leave a store with the dogs, but then again I ask at the front. If they say no then I leave and go someplace else or I come back when I don't have the dog with me.

I realize that emotions run high in regards to this subject, but really, where should the line be drawn? No animals, all animals, furry ones, slimy ones, feathered ones? I know I sure as heck would freak out if I were to see someone with a snake next to me at the fabric store, LOL.

I do take mine to Petsmart, but I keep them in the cart and I wipe the cart down with lysol wipes first (yep, I'm kind of a germaphobe).

I'm a confessed germaphobe myself. Petsmart is one place I hate to take Gidget - I'm afraid of all the germs from the other animals! Nothing wrong w good old Lysol wipes - girl's bestfriend!

There is a huge difference between a tiny dog in a carrier (enclosed) and a big dog on a leash IMO, but I understand that it is up to the store owner and I abide by that.

Agree I used to take them in there, and I would put a blanket in the bottom of the cart. I can't imagine what it must feel like to stand or sit in there. Poor babies

I agree. I don't think the op meant any harm or negative. Sometimes we say thing "tough in cheek" -- there are many yt members who take their dogs a lot of places I wouldn't.. (or at least now after be "caught" and told to leave. I honestly did not know..now I do.) Just because they have a different opinion I would not put them down and hope the same from them.

So many people break rules-- sometimes it is because they don't know or understand the rule. Sometimes it is because they think they are above the rule. But the truth is we have all - at some time-- have broken a rule so he who lives in glass houses should not throw stones. Just try to "educate" the person/friend/family member/ yt member
