| I’m only a hobby breeder. All four of my yorkies have AKC papers and their well cared for in/outside their choice and very spoiled, I do intend to breed him. After all I did pay his vet bills and my time wasn’t enough for his papers? He was 24hr care I even took him to work with me. The only contract I have is verbal and its between her and myself and another person witnessed it as well. The agreement was I take him and raise him to 8wks old, I could keep him or she would sell him for $500 and I could have the money. Now that I fell in love and want to keep him the price for is his papers is 1800. How can she rightfully think she can get away with this when the people who paid $500 each for his litter mates got their papers. She has no money in this puppy I purchased everything myself. She knows full well this is her puppy no one in their right mind would pay $500 for a paperless dog. His price more like 3000 now with all the er vet bills and pirceless in my heart |

| I would not pay her unless you get the AKC papers. Also if he was sick and you paid money to ''save him'' I would NEVER pay the breeder the money, not if the breeder knew he was sick.

| Fido the yorkie-I do not intend on paying her anything after it was the agreement shed sell him for me and give me the money $500 or I could keep him at no cost but my time and care which equaled more. Now that I've fell in love and have more then that invested in him shes uped the price to 1800 for me to get his papers. Hows that fair when his litter mates went for$500.00 with papers? I think shes been dishonest from the beginning |

| I'm sorry you are going through this. That little guy is very lucky to have found you. God bless you for taking such good care of him. Hope everything gets straightened out.

I wouldn't want to get a puppy from someone who was dishonest with someone else.

If she opted to not register any of the pups, then there is nothing you can do to force her to do it. Even if she does have them registered, there is nothing you can do to force her to sell on an open registration. I would also question the breeding stock of anyone who is willing to let dogs go for $500.00. You can be assured that she's cut corners in her breeding program, so why would you want to take the chance of adding that to your stock? BTW, people pay $500 dollars for paperless dogs every day. Those people are called pet owners. I'm sorry, but I feel from your posts that you feel entitled to have him on open registration because you "saved" him. As for his vet bills, that's what you get when you take on a dog. Any vet bills become your responsibility without a specific contract, and even then, only for certain conditions. Per your own posts, you said the agreement was for her to sell the dog and give you $500 or you could keep the dog. In no way does that imply a promise of an open registration.

| if he was very sick when you first took him into your home, it would probably be wise not to breed from him incase its anything hereditary. Couldnt you just keep him as a much loved pet?

I was just about to say giving his health issues that breeding may not be the best for this little guy.

| I would guess that this lady is not going to change her mind. There is nothing wrong with having a dog without papers. If you think you are going to breed him, you might have to sell his puppies without papers. I would be just happy to have known I saved his life and he can just be a wonderful pet. To be honest, I have not always registered my dogs. I have all the papers for them, but since I have never had any intention on breeding, I didn't feel the need. I wouldn't care if they had papers or not. |

| I'm guessing she is asking 1800 because she knows you are attached to him and is hoping you will pay anything to keep him. Personally, I think you should cut your losses, forget the papers, and keep him as a pet. And pray she doesn't try to sue you to get him back or make you pay 1800. If you have no written contract and didn't pay for him in the first place, it can be difficult to prove he's yours and not hers. But after 3000 in vet bills I think you should get to keep him! |

| I am so sorry that this happened to you. I don't know if it is a misunderstanding or what. I am so glad you have a sweet healthy baby now. But, the breeder does not have to give you papers unless you have a written contract. I very seldom sell a puppy with an open AKC registration. I only want the very best puppies to be bred. The rest are sold as pets only. Perhaps that was the breeders intention. My sister lives in Columbus Ohio. I visit there at least twice a year and she visits me here in Fl. |

| Or perhaps the other way around. How can she prove it IS her dog, if she goes that far? There was nothing signed, etc. I know it may not be so honest, but the breeder isn't either, and I, at this point would NOT give this dog up or pay a penny. I would say, "Hey, what are you talking about....this is a pup from my own dogs.!! I owe you NOTHING!! Go to court? I don't think so, over something like this...she is not going to want her name tarnished or court costs. There is nothing on paper. As far as it looks anyway, she GAVE the dog to you. If it ever did come to court, it would be thrown out. I think you could make her give you money if it came down to that. She sold the others for $500. and you paid significantly more saving his life! Just my thoughts. She doesn't have a leg to stand on. |

| He was the smallest of the litter that’s why he was so sick and the mom did not care for him properly. The breeder was not willing to save his life so by the time I got him he was malnourished from lack of care. He in no other way has health problems now. Totally a clean bill of health from the veterinary and I have been told I can breed him. If she has been honest about this he is of champion bloodline both his mother and both his father .I might give her name after I get his papers I’m currently in talks with the AKC and they are working on getting his papers for me they say she cant legally keep his papers, she is a kennel club member and could be removed from all their programs for this. I will go to court if that’s what it takes my Lawyer agrees with AKC. My veterinary can even verify he’s my dog as we go to the same veterinary. I do have pictures of him from the first day I brought him home. Another person that heard the agreement and will testify.I will have DNA done to prove he is of her breeding stock. I honestly don’t feel she has a legal leg to stand on, I am just so frustrated she’s acting this way. |
