| When we originally got our Japanese Chin / Poodle mix (my wannabe Yorkie), I wrote out a list of names and my husband and I went over them for days before deciding on the name Bear. Then, the more we watched him, the more he looked like Gizmo off of the Gremlins. We continued to call him Bear for a little more than a week, but really debated on changing it. The final decision was made while I was standing in front of the ID tag maker at Petsmart. I asked my husband what he thought and we both wanted to change his name to Gizmo......so we did! The week before I even knew I was getting Lilly the question of the day on the radio station I listen to each morning was in regards to a young lady who started college and couldn't take her service animal named Lilly with her.....they wanted to know what type of animal it was. Turns out it was a ferret, but I so loved that name and told my husband that when I got my Yorkie girl I was going to name her Lilly. He didn't even try to argue and 2 weeks later I had her.

| Snoodles got her name because when I first got her, she was so wiggly, that I started saying, " Snoodles, Woodles" Then, it stuck. When people ask her name,. and I tell them, most just laugh. We thought it was cute at the time, but now I kind of wish I gave her a more feminine name--like Mia or Princess. She is so small and dainty that SNoodles really doesn't fit. The vet however, really liked it. He said he gets real tired of hearing the same old names! Pat |

| I was born in Southeast Louisiana and lived here all my life. I am of strong cajun heritage on my mother's side. When I got my yorkie at the age of 15, I told my mom I liked the name Kacey. She told me it sounded like a boy dog's name. So, I chose Lacey because it was very close. Right as I started to pick a name, she walked over and undid every family member's shoelaces. So, I said if she likes laces that much, she is definitly a Lacey. She had papers on her and I found out her mom's name was also Lacy! Lacy Labeau. I decided I wanted Lacey to sound more cajun and frenchy, so I added 2 middle names to her papers. So, her full name was Lacey Azalia Francais. Azalia was like a flower because Lacey was so beautiful. And Francais is French. My next yorkie baby will be Chloe Cheyenne. I always liked the name Cheyenne, but liked it mainly for middle name. And I just think Chloe is a cute yorkie name. And I think Chloe Cheyenne sounds really cute together. Both start with a "C". I had originally picked Abby, but found out the neighbors dog is Abby. |

| I was first introduced to Yorkies by my girlfriend, who had two. She had been sickly most of her 49 years, and during the last two months of her life, her Yorkies were by her side like glue. I fell in love with those dogs. Then, five years later I was in an antique store, and the owner had a small and very active Yorkie called Sadie. Lots of the customers knew her, and when her Master said it was time for lunch, the dog was so sweet, and raced by its owners side like lightning. I lost a dog 40 years ago, (yup, I am dating myself folks) and decided it was so hard to lose one that I would never put myself through that again. Well, Bingo, 8 mons. ago I got an adult Yorkie (3 yrs. old now), and I named her Sadie. I love the name, and so does everyone else but my boyfriend. He used to know a large dog with the same name, so using that name for a small dog does not fit in to him. Her name was Zoe when I got her, and although I like the name, I was set on having a Sadie. Donating YT 2000 Club Member | 1st timer here We have a 9 yo+ Bichon named Ranger. A 14 month old 10# Havanese named Bailey because as a puppy he was tan and black: now he is Black/Silver & white and he is the love of my life. He is being trained as a therapy dog and a hearing service dog for me. And last week we added to our family, Dayzee Mae, a 4 month old 6# Yorkie who is such a delight. She follows Ranger every where and goes out the doggie door to the yard. He is training her for me. |

| Since we live on a boat over 1/2 of the year we wanted a nautical name for our new puppy. We had a contest going between several places where family members & friends worked. They were pretty inventive. We have enough names for a whole litter. Some suggestions were-Bobber, Undertow, Sailor. My husband finally came up with "Yachtsea" for our little girl. We have an old Chris Craft Roamer Motor Yacht so that fits pretty good don't you think?

| Great thread! My silly husband picked Wosie's name! He's a huge South Park fan (I know, it's an AWFUL show, lolol ), and there was this little kindergarten kid on there that couldn't say Rs. His aunt just happened to be Rosie O'Donnell, and he kept saying "My Aunt Wosie is going to kick your a_ _! Now why in the world, upon holding my sweet puppy for the first time, would my silly husband think that was JUST the RIGHT NAME for her??? lolol We do get a lot of giggles when I tell the story! We also have to say "Wosie with a W" when we tell people on the phone...Poor vet techs finally have it right, lol.

| My Husbands favorite movie is Twister. In the beginning of that movie there is a dog, that I thought/think was/is a yorkie named Toby. And I thought that Toby sounded so cute and little. So when we went and got Toby we knew he was going to be Toby, but we didn't have a middle name for him. So we jokingly said Toby Keith--the country singer and then dismissed it. We thought and thought, I was thinking Baby Toby Bear or something along those lines, but I could NOT get Toby Keith out of my head. I don't even like the name Keith all that much you know. So I kept his registration papers for about 2 months, and then finally chose Lil Toby Keith Davis. Not to original but, I guess I am not to original either. LOL

Yorkie Lover Donating Member | Magic full name is Lil Mis Magic and it came from a Jimmy Buffet song...my dad used to call me that when I was really little and I wanted to pass it down....most people tend to love her name and love how she got it!! Sailor full name is Sailor Bear...Sailor comes from another Jimmy Buffet song, we wanted their names to match and went through all his songs to find the one that fit...and Bear comes from when she was little she looked like a little teddy bear....people always love her name and how unique it is...we have never heard of another Sailor yet!!!

| For 3 years before I got my little girl I was dead set on the name 'Lola' - I just couldn't wait to get my little Lola. I got my little girl in March, and in January I was in London visiting my sister who was studying abroad. We were walking on the street and saw this woman w/ a teeny Maltese, her name was 'Laila.' I heard the name and my sister and I both look at each other and went.... ohhhhhh. I just loved it. I really wanted a femanine name. She is so small in stature I wanted a really beautiful name that made a statement. Laila has a bit of southern charm, but is also a powerful, more unique name. She's a little tyke w/ a big personality. Everyone who asks her name just falls in love w/ it. Although a lot of people associate it w/ the old Eric Clapton song. I have never heard anyone not like it, they all just think it fits her perfectly and is such a lovely name. She is my beautiful 'Little Laila.'
