| ![]() Got any friends who are lawyers? A letter warning that if you, your family, your pets and your property are harmed in anyway you will take legal action. See if you can find out who there insurance company is. Bet they would like to know about the situation. Any town council meetings you could bring up the issue? You can't "do nothing" as you would never forgive yourself if anything happened to your fur or skin kids. Some people just shouldn't be allowed to have pets. I am angry for you!! |

| ![]() gracielove, I agree it sounds criminal, but that is what happens in rural areas in this state. There are no city services to call on. Yes, the SPCA will come in but usually only puppy mills or for live stock. Also keep in mind I could NEVER do what the Sheriff's Office suggested. The dogs in question had reverted to pack behavior. It was sad that pet owners were abandoning their family companion to fend for itself. |

| ![]() Wow, that must have been scary and I would be furious as well!! I am glad your little girl is alright, it could have ended much worse. I would definitely talk to them and give them a warning. You shouldn't have to fear for your furkids or children in their own yard. I live in the country as well but I am very lucky as I have great neighbors. A majority of my neighbors have big dogs. Thankfully everyone here is nice and responsible for their dogs and don't let them run free. On an occasion one will get loose and one of us neighbors will catch it and return the dog but it is purely accident. Everyone here is very respectful of one another. We have a big dog as well and she's gotten loose on us a couple of times. Last week there was a big dog in our yard, the part that isn't fenced. Somehow Daisy got out of our fenced yard and chased it home. I'm glad we have her, she really watches out for us and the little ones.

| ![]() I hate to sound like I take things too far, but, I would get a a .22 rifle, and practice with it. My yard is fenced where my dog goes, but we have racoons and coyotes, and big dogs that escape their yards here that can easily get into the fenced area. I do not hunt and do not take pleasure in shooting animals, but I will defend my family against them. If these dogs chased your dogs on your property, then you should be prepared to do what it takes to save your dog. |

| ![]() On a secondary note even if you have animal control in your area, they will be useless. We saw a raccoon in our neighborhood that was walking down the middle of the street in day light and we called them. They said that was normal behavior.... | ![]() Sounds like it is time to invest in a fence. Even if you stop these people from letting their dogs run into your yard, another dog might come along one day and one bite could be "it". I have heard of so many sad stories of yorkies being attacked ... if you are out walking her off leash even in your own yard, and she runs from you, you may not be able to save her the next time.

| ![]() Ok my husband talked to my neighbors the next day....he said they were pretty nice about it and apologized and so far haven't seen them back. We will see I guess. Ladyjane, I wish we could afford to fence right now, but 2 acres costs way more than we can afford..especially since we just bought the house in April. We do have a 20ft x 25 ft area fenced that we use for our golden retriever to be in some of the time when she is wanting to be outside. For right now, we are using 2 xpens that are hooked to the deck stairs that she can have at least a little room to do her business in. She's never had to potty on a leash since we always had a fence and she just freaks out...she is such a nervous dog anyway. Hopfully everything will work out. So far we have never seen any other dogs roaming, but of course that could change. I just worry too about my children and the fact that we were so excited to have this huge yard to play in. I just hope that some stupid people with dogs that they let roam don't ruin that!
