| ![]() Many towns have leash laws and require that all dogs be under control at all times. I would check at your local town/city hall what the dog control laws are. Then speak to your neighbors and tell them how concerned you are about your yard and especially your little dog. If they won't listen to you then speak to the animal control people or the police or both to see what your options are. The town I used to live in had some very stiff fines for owners that let their dogs run free. Having to pay a fine or two may change their ways fast. |

| ![]() Their dogs shouldn't be freeling going into your backyard to pee. Why aren't they on a leash? Call the cops. |

| ![]() I guess I'm just too nice. I didn't want to already have bad relationships with neighbors is why I hadn't said anything before when I'd catch them. Tonight made it a whole other story though and even if it means neighbors being mad...I don't care...what stinks is half of them are related it seems. Lol.

| ![]() You can not have good relations with bad neighbors. Neighbors that dont care enough to take good care of their own animals by letting them run loose, sure dont care about your tiny babies. A call to animal control EVERY time the dogs show up in your yard,I suggest pictures. If you can at some point file a formal complaint I would. Here in the city, tall fences make very good neighbors. The guy next to me has a 7ft stockade fence and my chainlink is 5 ft tall. We get along very well. We have neighbors that live across the street,2 separate households, that let their tiny 2lb chis run loose. Cannt tell you the times I have almost hit one of them. | ![]() Well, lots of luck talking to these people. In my experience, anyone who allows their dogs to run loose and damage or harm other people's property or pets, don't care and won't respond well. We have a big problem with cats in my neighborhood and the owner, who has 15-20 cats, has been talked to many times, with no change. If they don't care, talking to them won't change them. Maybe if you call animal control to come and get the dogs every time you see them loose and they have to go collect them, then they will think about it. Even if laws exist, getting them enforced can be a big problem. Good luck! Jeanette |

| ![]() I would call animal control and have them visit with them. that is not acceptable. I do let my dogs go in other people's yard or poop while we are out walking/ I bring a bag and always clean it up. Its irresponsible pet owners like that that makes it bad for everyone. I am so glad that it turned out okay |

| ![]() I would be so scared for my baby, I think you should talk to the neighbors first, and if it happens again, you might have to call animal control ![]() |

| ![]() Thank goodness everything turned out ok and Chloe didn't get hurt. I'd definitely report the indicent to the dog officer...God forbid anything happens to another dog, it may make a difference.

| ![]() You have to keep foremost in your mind that your dog(s) are at risk when their dogs are running amok. Is it worth it to try to be friends if your little one(s) could be hurt. |

YT Addict | ![]() Here is what I would do if it were me....I would first politely tell the owner of the dog what happened and give them the opportunity to correct the problem. Second I would get one of those traps place some hot dogs inside and catch the sucker. Next I would call animal control and tell them, I have traped an animal in 'MY YARD' and tell them to come and get it. But that's just me...and depending on what kind of mood I am in....I might just skip one and two and move straight to three....again....that's just me! Cynthia

| ![]() i'm glad to hear your little one wasn't hurt. We live across the street from a pit bull. Dinky got loose and ran into his yard (electronic fence) last year when Dinky was still a little baby. If my DH had not been one step behind him.... We had to take the blame for that one, but every little dog in this neighborhood is terrified of that brute. He took the hit and went through the fence to go after another little dog last year. I really hate that dog!!! |

| ![]() This being Texas, when I lived in rural Johnson County I called about a pack of dogs running loose that were terriorizing the neighborhood including my young skin babies. I was told to "Shoot them and bag them." I now live in the city, and they wanted me to pay $25 to pick up a dog that keeps coming into my yard after my boys who are on a leash! My response, "Why am I paying for city services with my tax money?" Last edited by TWUladybug; 06-28-2011 at 12:39 PM. |
