| How many names before you chose the right one? First, I want to say I love my little guy to pieces and named him Don Juan before I even decided I would bring him home. My hubby normally tolerates my love for dogs and it took a little convincing before he agreed to getting Foxxy Cleopatra (R.I.P.). So when he informed me that Don Juan's name was Chopper I was shocked. I was surprised because naming the little guy means he's had his heart stolen as well. So how did you guys decide the perfect name for you babies? I think Chopper is really cute and I haven't sent in his CKC papers yet so what do you guys think? Should I give Daddy this one and call my little man Chopper? |

| I tink naming should be a team effort, you both are going to be using this name for a long time. For my little girl it took me and BF forever to decide on a name, I felt so bad, she was nameless for 3 days!! But then when we found Molli, it just seemed right and we both agreed. Even though its more common than I'm used to it fits her perfectly and I dont care. I think you will know in your heart when you have the perfect name for your baby!

| But you fell in love with Don Juan and he courted you, call him Don Juan Chopper. All 4 of mine have registered names but we have ended up giving them nick names and they seem to know who we are talking to.

| How about Don Juan de Chopper. You both get what you want and his name is unique in CKC. Teddie was bought expressly for me via the hubmeister. Teddie looked like a little bear when we first got him, ergo Teddie was his name. Of course he is registered as Teddie Zi Bear. It fits him so I went with it.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | My husband usually picks out names and then we agree on one. Pixie was already named when we got her at 13 months Then we got another one and he really wanted a Pixie and Dixie. Sadly Dixie passed shortly after we got her. So when the breeder gave us another one I really wanted to call her Roxie so after going around with names for awhile, he decided he liked Roxie.

| I had a name planned for my first Yorkie, but when I found my boy, it didn't suit him. He needed a strong name to suit his look and personality. The new name worked well with his litter-given name which became his registered moniker. For my second boy, the name came to me immediately and when I met him in person, it was perfect. He answered to it immediately. If the name suits the pup and you like it, go for it.

| Have I mentioned how much I love this site? I agree with you all. Naming should be a team effort but Mister (I call hubby Mister LOL) never took any interest. So with him coming up with it, I'm kinda having a moment about it. :-) Baroness and Susan Lynn, you both have the right idea. Don Juan de Chopper works for me. I think it would mean a lot to Mister if I call him Chopper. Thanks guys. |

| My little girl's name was Prudence. When the breeder called me to tell me she became available because the deal didn't go through with the previous buyer, I was shocked. I saw a few pics via email and I fell in love instantly. The next word out of my mouth was Asia. So, I named her Aja (different spelling but same prononciation). Many folks don't like it but I do

| We went through all kinds of internet sites to try and find Chip's name. Chip came up on one of the lists, but I wasn't totally sure. Hubby had to rush Chip to the vet the next morning for an emergency because Chip was having a bad hypoglycemic incident (we didn't know what was going on at the time, long story). The vet asked for Chip's name and hubby just told them it was Chip because that was the name he really liked. I liked it too, I just wasn't sure. Chip definitely suits him though. Smokey came to us already with this name and because he had been through so much already and his name had already been changed once from Coby, we just decided to keep his name the way it was. I really don't know what other name we would have come up for him though... guess we never really thought about it.

| I had a little list before getting Jackson... ended up going with Jackson mainly thanks to my mom, as we had just watched the Johnny Cash movie with the song 'Jackson' plus the whole being a fan of Michael Jackson thing helped too. When I met him, I knew Jackson was it. It kept coming back to me as I stared at his picture I had of him before I even met him.

| Peanut was laready named and Tink had no name, the girl that found her on THE SIDE OF THE ROAD called her "mama dog" although she is spayed. My daughter brought her in and said "Mama, she looks like a little tinker toy"...Hence "Tink". They both have nicknames though. Tink is tinki, tinki too and Peanut, we call him Nut or butter or peanut butter. I know crazy... My husband helped in comeing up with names for our weims that we had. We have just one left...Duchess!

| I love picking out names and have a list of them. I like Don Juan and Chopper. The name should be something everyone likes, I think. Don Juan de Chopper is good ... he will have nicknames, I'm sure. My favorite was Chantilly Lace, my little Bichon girl I lost last year. I have Cosmo and Lavender and Samantha Love. I didn't choose any of their names, but they fit! Jeanette |
