| Is it really that the pup shouldn't go out anywhere, or that it shouldn't be walking on the ground (where other animals have been, peoples shoes that track disease, etc.)? I've always taken my new pups with me everywhere too...just in a carrier. Just like I did my own kids. Human babies usually go everwhere with their Mums too. I thought the important thing is what they touch or don't touch, and cleanliness before they are handled.

| I agree with most. It is a great thing that you can be there for her when she needs you and I am sure she will one day. My mom is battling Ovarian Cancer and a few months ago we gave her a puppy. She has been a great puppy parent and gets great joy from having Missi in her life. I will pray that your neighbor experiences the same joy from her little guy and that she absorbs all the advice and information that is being offered to her.

He is six weeks of age and really should not be away from his mother never mind being out and about.

| I never knew about the airborne diseases they could contract being out & about so young. I just assumed the danger came from the ground/surfaces like parvo. That's one of many reason I love YT...always learning something new even though I've been around yorkies for over 35 years.

| My furkids Donating Member | Thank you everyone! She and her husband are VERY good friends of ours. They really miss their little Lhasa....they had tabby for 13 yrs....they were good dog parents. My husband saw her out with the pup yesterday and said to her...please listen to Brenda. She said she does....well....she doesn't! Apparently she hasn't read any of the books I lent her..However...she did take the larger of the two puppies....I had suggested she do that. I just don't want to see anything happen to this little one.I guess i'm just going to have to sit back and let them do what they are going to do. I will still continue to make suggestions and be there for them if they need me but, that is all I can do. I don't want to lose a friendship over this...just found out this afternoon the neighbor across the street(don't know her) took the smaller of the two and she has 3 children under the age of 5!! Yorkies are such adorable puppies but, I don't think alot of people realize how much work a puppy is. All they see is a cute little face.

All you can do is be there and be available to help when the opportunity comes along. I'm sure the dog will help your neighbor and will bring her joy in the midst of her illness. Try not to be too hard on her ... I've never dealt with cancer, but it has to be very difficult. Will keep all of you in my prayers. Jeanette | |
