| Is one enough? I have been thinking of adding another Yorkie to our family. I have one yorkie. Mrs. Beasley, she is 9 yrs old. She has always been the only baby. She is very jealous. She does not seem bored or lonely. But my thought is that she might need a companion. Is it fair to Mrs. Beasley? Does she Need a companion? Will it tramatize her? I do not want to do anything to bother or hurt her. Please offer your opinions ... I need help with this decision.

| One is never enough in yorkies BUT if Mrs. Beasley is very jealous as you say and pretty well a senior dog herself I wouldn't recommend bringing a new puppy into your life. perhaps she would like another senior to pal up with, but perhaps she's been used to being an only child for so long she won't take well to a newbie. you might ask Shodanusmc about having a senior female and taking in "two" new puppies. |

Many dogs are fine, if not better off, being an only child.

| Ellie is 9 also and does not want a companion. Whether one is enough or not would vary. Other animals Time Energy Money!! Etc.

| I'm not sure Mrs. Beasley wants a companion.

Another thing to consider is whether you have the patience/ time to dedicate to the dogs apart from each other if they do not get along- there may be an adjustment period, or the two dogs may never take to each other. Personally, when I add a new pet it is for life- so when adding a new pet I considered the possibility that the two would not get along and I would have to keep and entertain them apart from each other. Thankfully, that did not happen in my case. I LOVE both of mine and most of the time I appreciate having two and the way they interact and play together. But, there are times I think it would have been easier if I had just stuck with one.

| If she gets really jealous and doesn't seem lonely or bored then I dont think I would add another one. Some yorkies I think are meant to be only dogs. Callie loves playing with other dogs and loves when my mom brings her yorkie Sammy down but at the end of the day she wants to be the only baby getting all the attention

| I go back & forth on this one... I've always "thought" I wanted a couple of yorkies. With my first yorkie, I wanted a 2nd pup from the litter and they were all available, but I couldn't afford it. With my newest yorkie, I could afford one or two more, but there weren't any others available from the litter. Now ZoE is 6 months old and I keeping thinking about whether I should get another or not. I really like the portability of one and that it's not so much of an imposition when you visit people. ZoE doesn't seem to care for other little dogs at all so it would be down to what I want. And I think I like the idea/look of two...(cos the photos are just soooo cute)...more than I do the reality.

You pretty well summed up how I feel as well. I want another soooo bad. I would love to have numerous. But I would want Rosie to be happy with the decision as well. I too go back and forth. Just not sure on this decision.

| Although I love, love, love my second boy, life was much easier with one. There is no way I could have handled 2 before this point in my life. As Crystal indicated, there are many factors to consider.

| I added my third dog when my two other yorkies were 8 years old. They did not really want him around -- it took months for them to "accept" Teddy but finally they did. If Mrs. Beasley is not friendly to other dogs and isn't use to puppies, be forewarned that it might not go over too well with her when you bring the little intruder home. BTW, having the third triples the cost of everything!

| I started out with 1 Yorkie and since May 2009 I have added 3 more. They do great most of the time. It just takes time for them to adjust to each other. Good Luck in your decision.

YT Addict | My Gizmo does not like other little dogs and tends to run from them, and will try to attack big dogs. He is almost 5 yrs old and has been the only baby for so long. Once there was a visiting little dog here and he would go in my bedroom and would not come out til the pup left. Besides gizzy goes everywhere with me and I know I could not handle traveling around with two. Also don't think I could afford to have another inside little dog, I already have a german shepherd and a chow chow. The shepherd had puppies 4 weeks ago and they are also inside because it is so hot out, so I am really taking care of 7 puppies on top of my baby...whew.....lol Cynthi
