| Middle age baby replacement? I belong to a social group, and most of the women are in their late 40's+. Almost everyone has a small fur baby. The men were talking, and agreed that owning Yorkies, Maltese, Shih Tzus etc. is a middle age woman's baby replacement. They ALL agreed that they are no longer "top dog" since the fur baby came home. Even the teens agreed that mom likes the fur baby better. One hubby ranked the dog first, then the kids, then the pond fish, and himself last. The husbands and kids were convinced. What does your family say? Is it a middle age baby replacement thing? Does the family feel that mom loves the fur baby the most? I don't want to publicly admit it but, well, ...

| I was thinking Steve might know more than we middle age women do. Any way When I got my first Yorkie 2 years ago my son (who was 15 then) was so jealous. He is an only child and did not want any competition. He thinks Tessie is treated better than him, but she doesn't back talk as much as he does. My husband didn't want a dog in the house, now we have four. He says I treat them better than him, thinks he is last also after dogs, cats, son and him. But he spoils the dogs more than I do. You get unconditional love from your furbabies, they don't care about hormones, better than medicine. What age is middle age anymore?

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | I actually agree with this. Those bonding hormones are so much fun!

| Yep that is my house too DH says I am in my second motherhood My boys are grown (30 and 26) and our house was so empty. Jada and Bogie have filled our home with love and laughter and my DH didn't want any house dogs either. We had Jada a total of 3 weeks when it was his idea that she needed a companion and he needed a boy that would be attached to his hip like Jada is to mine. Well we got the boy (Bogie)and both of my guys are attached to me They love their daddy and run to sit on his lap when he comes home, but it is me that they are closest to. DH knows the babies come first and he is doesn't get jealous, I think he knows how much I love them and he knows how much joy they bring me and just accepts that he comes second, plus he spoils them as much as I do.

| Well, I'm only 26, but my BF (with whom I reside) knows that m babies come first! We're not married... So it's not even a question of who would go if push came to shove, lol! Luckily, Heath loves my babies almost as much as I do, so he gets to stay where he is for now! |

| YES .. That is my house -with a bit of a twist. We got our first dog for the kids, then we had to get a companion for the first dog. Then my dd broke up with her bf and wanted a dog as replacement (no comments) and of course I got the litter mate... little zohie died, dd moved to chicago so I got her dog ... then I got Remy. Remy is different. I love all my dogs, but well.. Remy is special. She loves her daddy. My dh keeps saying NO MORE DOGS!!! But from the day I brought Remy home she has been his. I say he loves the dogs more than me Now my girls.. they think I am sick with how much attention I give the dogs. I have more pictures on my phone of my dog then them!! BUT when they call to make sure I am visiting this summer they always say.. you ARE bring Remy, right??? I think they have a plot to keep her

| Haha! I refer to Lucy all the time as my 'little child substitute'. With my son in his teens and no longer wanting to spend a whole lot of time with his Mom, Lucy is my new BABY! She doesn't mind being spoiled one little bit!
