![]() Hey everyone...kind of a specific question here. I see some people post flyers around saying "I specialize in dog breeding -- check out my poodles, yorkies, yorkie-poos, shih tzus, maltese, and pugs!" And everyone, especially me, shake their heads in sadness at that!!! however, i have a female yorkie that i plan on not getting fixed (shes only 6 months old now) in CASE i choose to breed her in life. Please do not preach to me about this, or try to talk me out of it. I'll tell you that i LOVE raising animals, i've raised things from kittens to deer. I understand the goal in improving the breed. I would never breed any animal with genetic defaults! My yorkie does not have a champion bloodline and she's not even registered with the AKC! (she is with DRA). But i love her, and enjoy the hobby of raising animals for PETS. Obviously, you won't have to sell your kidney to get a puppy from me. That doesn't mean i'm going to cut corners and "do the shots myself" or attempt to sell them as show dogs. Making a profit should NEVER be the goal. Anywho, i've done my research THOUROUGHLY and don't intend to stop learning more everyday about yorkies, the breed standard, breeding, and puppy care. I ALSO have a BEAUTIFUL male Chinese Crested. I bought him as mostly a playmate for Asia while i was at work., and intending on neutering as soon as he is of age. The more books i bought on the cresteds, the more i fell in LOVE with the breed! The puppies are more diverse than anything i;ve ever seen. I'm CONSIDERING buying a female crested and raising cresteds as well. Breeding both will take a LOT of time and effort. I may have to cut back work hours to donate my time to ensuring quality home-raised puppies. I'm not saying i'm going to pump out those puppies -- Asia and Rooney are my furbabies! (well, Rooney is a hairless, so he has NO hair! ![]() Ahhh to make a short story long, my point is: how do i prevent getting ChineseYorkies?? Is there anyone else out there that breeds two different breeds of dogs? I know there are a lot of ways to do it...plan the bitches seasons, kennel the males....any tricks, suggestions, comments???

If they come to your house for an inspection, they can actually fine you over this. They're suppose to be housed seperately. What I did...since I used a different male stud, when Gracie was in heat, the males would be crated. When it was their turn to go out to potty, Gracie was crated. Keep them completely seperated. Do not think that belly band and doggie panties will do. It will NOT and they will find a way to get them off.

![]() Yep, neither are AKC..the crested is not registered because the momma was AKC and the daddy was something else *can't remember...CKC?* So only the yorkie is registered. My vet told me a story of the AKC getting after someone...a gentleman bought some kind of retriever that ended up being a really absurd weight at the vet's. This man got a lawyer or some kind of investigater to do a DNA test. The father of the puppy ended up being a neighbour dog that jumped the fence! The people who sold him the puppy had no idea and felt very bad. SO now there are about 7 puppies that are "AKC" that are really mutts floating about.

![]() i would stud my yorkie; i would love to have 4 or even 5 dogs! but unfortunately, there are not 40 hours in a day...and even with the 24 hours i DO get...when you divide that by *4* dogs...i just think i would be a bad mommy! 3 is the limit when you choose to have children in the next 20 years lol

![]() I would work out a way to divide up the house or separate rooms instead of crating any of them if crating means putting them in a small cage. How can you crate any dog for the length of time a female is in heat? Three weeks or more? That is cruel in my opinion. I think if you gate off the kitchen for one and maybe the family room for the other or something that would be better for both of them. Just an idea.

![]() I couldn't agree with you more, SoCal! that's the number one reason i asked this question because i do NOT believe in crating. That's fine if it works for some people, but i personally have never been able to leave my pets in crates. My dogs sleep in my bed with me (for all old-school trainers, i do let my dogs know they are NOT the alpha-males during the day and it is a special privilege. They do not get to eat people food or do everything the way people do!) When i am gone for many hours, i confine them to the bedroom.

![]() I use to raise Cresteds.........they are VERY unpredictable in the amount of hair the hairless will have as far as crest and furnishings, I can only advise to get a great Crested with long show lines that produce much fringe for that beautiful pony look. You will probably read about the double gene in cresteds, the puppies die right after birth and have a tiny red dot on their head......there is so much to research.........good luck Angie

![]() Hi! I'm the last person who is going to lecture you. I understand your desire. The AKC may or may not "frown" on males and females living together but i say to them or anyone....get over it! my 9 yorkies all live togehter, love one another and would be lost without one another...now with that being said, yes i have to seperate them at times. i keep a careful watchful eye on my girls coming in season and i do seperate my 2 males when needed, and i always hate doing it , but it is a must. otherwise, we are one big happy family. good luck to you on whatever you decide. just make sure you have evaluated your girl before breeding her to make sure she has traits you would like to see in future puppies. have her tested by a vet and evaluated prior to breeding. otherwise, best wishes to you and yours!

![]() Yes, I've spoken with my vet who has experience with yorkies and she feels Asia is a good specimen for breeding -- good temperament; healthy, silky coat; and she's a bigger girl! She's about 7 pounds and still growing! As for the my chinese crested, i chose (well, i actually let ASIA choose!) a puppy with super awesome furnishings! His crest is significantly longer than the other puppies, and it grows down almost to his shoulderblades. I,of course, shaved his body hair off. He is a VERY HAIRY hairless ![]()
