If you do want them up, use a shaver and shave the top 1/3 of the ear and tape up the ears. However Uni my yorkie has big ears, we never taped them, and didn't start trimming her ear hair until about 5 months old. Hers stood up on her own. I use tiny scissors, she stays still enough for me, but does not like the sound of the electric buzzer. And yes, pluck the ear hair. After a bath (use an ear cleaner in the bath) put in ear powder and pluck out hairs a few at a time. Just the ones that grow directly out of the canal. Don't pluck when he is dirty, you will only be pulling out the hairs to open up holes for infection to go into. Cotton coated pups have more hair in there for the most part than silky pups.
