| I get that area cut short at the groomer and I cut it periodically to keep it short and its rare for mine to have poop stuck on their butts and it usually happens because I havent clipped back there. If you keep it very short there isnt a problem. It doesnt look bad they look groomed

| I keep all of mine shaved (butts) - I tell 'em "time to get your butt shaved" and they all come running and line up (same for ears). Been doing it since they were pups, so it's their routine. I generally shave 'em once a month or so, more often if needed (but since I shave 'em bare, generally once a month is all that's needed). I've had friends laugh and say they look like they have 'brazilians' but no yucky poop stuck there! Three of them have long hair so if you trim straight up the middle and under the tail the side hair generally covers it when they walk (except for the times you get over zealous with the clippers, which I eventually learned not to).

YT Addict | Take her to the groomer to get a santitary trim around the bum, watch your groomer do it so you'll know how to keep it trimmed. I cut my pomeranians hair on my own, took some practice but I can do it now! Caught my husband cutting it the other day... i was so upset but had to laugh at poor Pooter's rear hahahaha. If you find my post you can see a pic of my poor little guy! :/

| I try to keep them cut short back there. I usually cut the hair that is a different color. In Hot Rod's case, I cut the beige hair back there and trim the black. On his tail I pull the beige/blond hairs and cut them off. I do the same with Maggie but she's more silver than Hot Rod so it's a little harder to do her.

YT 1000 Club Member | I like to keep both of mine cut rather short in that area. I have a "Grooming Kit", which I rarely use, and just lightly slide the electric clippers over the anal opening. Additionally, I trim the longer hair at the base of their tails, which is within a half inch of the area. That gives them a little space to evacuate, without letting the material touch any hair back there. Both mine are rather fastidious, and don't like any debris in that area at all. I know when they need a trimming, by their "butt drag" across the Carpet after they come in. Prompts me for immediate action !

| Assume the position . . . My husband trims Bella's backside with his mustache trimmer on his electric razor. It's easy and she is used to it and stands perfectly still. We do it whenever it needs it, usually about once every 3-4 weeks. We keep her short in the summer so it blends right in. It's always been shaved so she looks "normal". It's a GREAT solution and easy to do. |
