| I have stairs for our sofa, but Dex (7mo) will at times jump off when he wants...our soaf isn't that high and sits on an area rug. Good Luck

| WOW!! I guess I'm lucky. My Pixie who is 5 pounds jumps on and off the bed all the time. She has never fallen. But, she has been raised around a cat!! Not sure if that makes the differences. But, my DH says that we should look into get stairs for the bed to make it easier for her when she gets older. Pixie is only 2 1/2 years old.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I am so glad he is ok. I train mine from day one to use a ramp and stairs and it works great.

It might depend on how high the bed is. My last yorkie jumped on & off my old bed no problem. When my daughter moved into her first college apartment, she got my bed & I treated myself to a new Beautyrest Heavenly Bed that is now on a sleighbed frame. It's so high, I need steps to get in it myself!

| It's so cute, it's so odd to me to worry about a dog jumping on/off a bed because I have such a big guy (16lbs). He's been jumping on/off furniture since he was like 15 weeks old and I've never thought anything of it. It's so natural and normal. I'd have so much to learn if I got a tiny!! So glad your pup wasn't hurt.

| thank you so much everyone for the advice and replies . Hubby brought wood and such home today from work so he is putting together a ramp for me. I am going to sleep in the living room on our air mattress with Riley until the ramp is ready and I feel good about him using it. I have just become such a extra softie about him, I thought I was bad with the other dogs we have had but Riley is more like a human kid to me than the others were.

| Some training may be needed We have big yorkies, but still use steps. For a long time there was a trunk at the foot of our bed and they would get up on it then step up onto the bed. When we got new bedroom furniture we immediately went out and bought steps. At first they wouldn't use them to go down. So I moved the steps to the location on the bed where they seemed to be getting down on their own. Then we used treats to coax them to use the steps during several practice sessions. When they finally began using the steps to get down on a regular basis, I moved them around to the other side of the bed. My girl will still occasionally leap from the bed in a moment of extreme excitement, but 98% of the time they use the steps. Good luck!
