| ![]() I hate the thought of even leaving my two babies home for even and hour ... imagine 12 hours.... some people should think about it first before committing to a new companionship.... these babies need constant love and affection.....

| ![]() No, that baby needs you and not just a couple hours a day. If you look up the breed you will see that it is a companion dog. This means not just for your companionship but the pup needs companionship as well. It just won't understand!

YT 3000 Club Member | ![]() personally with that schedule, a cat might be a better fit for you, yorkies love to be around their humans and its not fair for them if their owners are gone a lot, I only work part time and I feel fuilty leaving chester at home |

| ![]() A betta fish would be perfect. I just dont like when people suggest cats to stay home that long by themselves. I have them and they can be just as social and needy as a yorkie. Just because they use a litter box does not makle them a good pet to leave at home alone long hours ya know what I mean

| ![]() On the days that I work out I actually do go home after work for around 40 min until I go to yoga class (which is from 6:30-8:00pm) even though I end up home like at 9:00 pm probably. I would still have time on the days that I don't work out plus the weekend. The girl at my office has a yorkie and she works from 8-5 but probably doesn't get home until 6:00pm every day and her yorkie is really quiet. She has brought him in with her twice but she usually leaves him alone. I don't ALWAYS work out 3 days during the weekdays, sometimes its only 3 times a week... Most people work 40 hours a week, I don't think that's extreme. |

| ![]() Actually, it wouldn't really be 12-14 hours on most days; I work from 8-5 (9 hrs) and then go home for around an hour and then leave to work out around 6:00 pm and can get home as early as 8:30 pm (if I rush), so I would be gone 11 hours 2 or 3 times a week but with a break in between.... I am sure there are plenty of people who work 40 hrs a week and still have yorkies...? |

I've never had a cat, but it does sound logical that they should not be neglected for so long either ![]()

| ![]() A fish was going to be my suggestion too. Well, it's at least good that the OP thought about this before she got a dog. I know we have all seen a lot people out there who get a dog and then end up looking to re-home it because they "don't have the time to give it the love and attention they deserve". That is one of my biggest pet peeves.

![]() At the schedule you are keeping I would look into a couple cats so they would have company during the day and make sure to have things for them to do like cat trees. I wouldn't however expect them to be overly cuddly to you when you are home unless you make a huge effort to connect with them both at least once a day because they will grow used to only each other and become anti-social which isn't what anyone wants in a pet. Maybe a couple of adult rescues? I would worry about leaving 2 kittens alone that much before they connect with humans. Best of luck to you.

| ![]() I dont think a cat or a dog should be left alone that long... IMO I wouldnt even leave a rabbit, hamster, or any other rodent type. I think if that is your schedule then think about a betta, or if u want an animal in your life try to re-work your schedule... My life would be empty without my Dog!
