I did a search on the board and a few folks said their dogs were ok with it once in awhile; but what if it's on a regular basis? (no sitter or neighbor to check in, just me).
I have had a few different breeds in my lifetime. Big dogs, XL dogs, mid size dogs and now a small dog. I have never known any of them to have been capable of what you are asking. You have to keep in mind that I am the lady who refused to put even our 200 pounder in the backyard with a dog house because I firmly believe all dogs want/need that interaction. I don't think people that leave one outside all day should have a dog. I still miss spooning with my Alaskan Malamute/Timber Wolf Hybrid. He was very cuddly and warm in the winter.

At the schedule you are keeping I would look into a couple cats so they would have company during the day and make sure to have things for them to do like cat trees.

I wouldn't however expect them to be overly cuddly to you when you are home unless you make a huge effort to connect with them both at least once a day because they will grow used to only each other and become anti-social which isn't what anyone wants in a pet.

Maybe a couple of adult rescues? I would worry about leaving 2 kittens alone that much before they connect with humans.

Best of luck to you.
