| Do any of your Yorkies howl? So, Alice has developed this habit...in the morning especially (although she just did it now) where she grabs one of her favorite toys, carries it around the house in her mouth, and whines the whole time. I'm 99% sure she's looking for a safe place to hide it because she'll stop at random locations, go in circles, then cry again and take it around to find another spot. When she finally finds an acceptable place lol she puts the toy down and howls! Now, I know dogs howl (we have a Beagle, nuf said lol) but I honestly don't think I ever heard a little dog do it, at least not so dramatically anyway. This isn't like a little howl that gets thrown in with barking, it's like howling at the moon LOL head back, lips puckered, the whole 9 yards. She sounds like the beagle on "The Fox and The Hound" Disney movie when he's a puppy and tries it for the first time LOL I think I posted breifly about this on a "funny things your Yorkie does" thread, but she just did it for the second time today and it's crazy to watch and I couldn't help but wonder if anybody else's Yorkies do this?

| I had another yorkie that would howl. We would talk to each other. My son was younger at the time and I would teach him (yorkie) to talk. We would say Shane. I would say (to the dog) say Sha aaaaane he would left his head up and do the same thing but in a howl. It was funny. I heard Jack howl when Josie was in heat and he couldn't get to her. Freaked me out. LOL |

| Yes!!! My yorkie, ZoE, howls too. She sounds like she's part Beagle...but she's all Yorkie.

| Lol, I'm gonna have to borrow my mom's video camera one of these days and catch it on film. Even the way she carries the toy around whining serching for a good place for it is priceless. At first I was slightly worried that she was really stressed about it, but then she finds that sweet spot and howls, then she's done lol. The whole ordeal takes a good 5 minutes

| Can't wait to see the video! My Lollipop howls, on occasion, usually when I leave her. The last time we went to a dog show, we stopped for potty breaks and when it was my turn, Lolli was sitting in the carseat, threw back her head and let loose. It was hysterically funny and very cute! |

| Too cute! I'd love to hear a Yorkie howl. We are always trying to get Levi to howl, but I don't think he knows how. Our bigger dog howls and Levi just stares at him and starts barking.

| Just get a clarinet and make it squeak! When I was in school, I could make any dog howl without even trying.

| Ha! If I had access to a clarinet, I might just give that a try. I wonder if he'd howl, or if he would just run away from his mommy trying to be musical.

| I have read that howling is primarily a dog's way of sending "long distance" messages. Max howls a little when I am out of the house, and it sounds like he is trying to send me a message. Wooowooooooowwooooooo.

| I've heard Jackson howl TWICE --- I wish he would do it more! I think it's absolutely adorable, LOL. We were at the dog park and a 'Puggle' was howling and Jackson was staring at him, like studying what he was doing and all the sudden, he lifted his head back and started howling too. Everyone in the park was cracking up! I've tried to get him to do it again (looking like a fool in the process) and he won't do it. He just barks at me.

| My sister's dog would act kind of like that when she was in heat, treating her dragon toy like a puppy. Tibbe flies all over the house when he's hiding his toys or chewies but he doesn't whine or anything while he is doing it.
