| For Fun.. I am new to the site. I see a lot of you seem to know each other. I thought it might be fun if people wanted to share a story about how they came about naming their yorkie? or a favorite nickname that their little pup might have ended up with? I know my little girl won me over the moment I saw her. We named her Evie after the little creature from pokemon. ( I thought her ears and the fur made her look just like that little pokemon ) Well, as most of you know Yorkie's are not the easiest little buggers to house break. Over time my girl would pee in the house.. and I would call her "evil" instead of evie.. to this day she comes running if she hears evil. lol |

| Well I am new to the site as well. Still trying to figure out things but did want to respond to this subject... I am a widow having lost my husband 5 years ago. Nov is especially a bad month for me so I just decided to buy a small dog to keep me company. Her name is "Bella" and she is 7 months old and just adorable. She has been so much company and helps to cheer me up. In fact I love having her so much that I have my eyes on buying another one from East Texas Yorkies. Can't wait to have 2 of them. I named her Bella because it seemed to suit her... PS - Love this forum!! Linda |

| Don't anybody laugh at me now - I'm a huge Twilight fan (Twi-mom as I suppose I'd be called lol), so Alice is named after Alice Cullen (vampire character from the books/movies) since that character has a "pixy" haircut and she's petite. When I saw Alice, it fit perfectly plus of course I'm paying tribute to the saga

| Welcome to YT! As far as my babies: I love high end fashion, so I decided to name my Yorkies after designers, first I had "Armani". The when I got a second I decided to name her "Dior", however, she seemed to be having a very hard time picking up on the name and it didn't roll off the tongue well. One day I was walking by a Chloe store and said, Oooo that would be a cute name too and we started calling her Chloe that day and she picked up on it right away. Most people don't really get that she is named after a designer as well, since Chloe is a less well known designer, but that's ok. LOL! Armani most often gets called Buddy, and Chloe gets called Muffie.

| First I wanted to welcome all the newbies to this site. I have learned so much here - hope you guys do too. When we first got Coco it was kind of hard giving her a name because we have 6 in the family and everyone had a different name they wanted to chose. I, too, liked designer names - but the name Coco won because its kind of chocolatey (her coloring at the time) as well as the perfume - so it was a compromise. Well Beckham - I'm sure everyone can guess........ my entire family is into soccer (me - only as a soccer mom). So the puppy was cute and was kicking around a ball - and the name appeared. Both names suit them. Coco is very easy going and Beckham doesn't stop running around all day long - LOL!!!

| I was not at all familiar with Yorkies until my daughter met one at a friends & told me about him. She knew I wanted a dog, and he was very sweet. So I started researching the breed and it seemed like everything every where said how they are "sassy, confident, prissy, smart...." and I knew she was going to be super spoiled so we named her Princess. My daughter picked her middle name "Adelle" though we have never used it. The nickname I gave her is "Puppy!" I never realized I was then one day I said it & she turned right around. Now when I want her to come find me in the house I say "Where's my puppy!?" and she comes running!

| All I can say is when I first got my little dog home after going 5 years without a dog and sat him down, looked into his tiny face, his name just came out of no where! Had never heard the name but the little fuzzy Yorkie looking back at me - who had never had a name and he was 9 mos. old - just seemed to be saying to me "I am Tibbe". No explanation - don't know where it came from but I do know somehow it fits him to a "T". I said the name and he began dancing around and jumping up on me as if to say that was his name! Add every derivation to that name such as "Mr. Tibbs", "Tibbster", "Tibbo", etc., and you have his nicknames, but, oddly enough I call him "bobba" more than anything, a term I heard in an audio book set in Ireland. They used that word as a term of endearment when talking to a child and somehow that nickname stuck to him maybe more than other nicknames. Tibbe is a special boy and just the love of my life!

| Welcome to Yt! My husband named Gizmo. When we brought Giz home he had a grey stripe down the too of his head making him look like that one evil Gremlin. So then came Gizmo.

| Hi! Welcome to YT!!! I had Jackson's picture, before I met him, and just stared at it while thinking of names. Nothing was totally sticking out in my mind until my mom suggested Jackson -- we had just watched Walk the Line (movie about Johnny Cash) and his song 'Jackson' was always stuck in our heads. Well, once she said it... I just KNEW he was a Jackson. I loved it. Plus I am a big Michael Jackson fan so it just fit I am big into music, obviously, and I think if I were to get a second dog, I'd like to stick with the music theme but not sure yet.

| My daughter named Troy. She was about to turn 7 when we got him and was really into Disney's High School Musical Movies. On of the main characters played by Zac Efron was named Troy so this is where our yorkie got his name.
