YT Addict | Still battling Kennel Cough.......... I have a 5 1/2 month female yorkie that came down with Kennel Cough two months ago!! It has never been severe but just seems to hang on. Lately, she coughs in the morning and a little at night but is fine the rest of the day. She eats, plays and is acting completely normal beside that annoying little cough. I don't like giving her the cough medicine since it seems to upset her tummy so I looked up some home remedies. I read that giving them a little honey helps............I did that last night............and it really did help. Has anyone else heard of the honey trick? Any suggestions for anyone on what else I can do. She is still on the Amoxi drops and the vet doesn't seem worried. How long is this going to drag out? I would appreciate anyone sharing experiences with me.........if nothing else..........to calm me down!!!! |

| Hello. When I first got Buster he had a bad case of kennel cough. I was treating him for over 2 months as well. He seemed to be slowly improving. I used to take him in the bathroom and let it steam up to help him when he was having problems. He seemed better and the vet said he had to get one of his shots so we went forward with the shot. The next day he got worse and he had to stay 3 days/nights in intensive care and get IV antibiotics he then finally kicked the kennel cough. I know you feel so helpless when they are having their coughing jags! So I completely understand your being concerned with how long it is taking. Is there perhaps a different medicine the Vet could try? I wish I could be better help. Sending you support and best wishes. I hope your puppy kicks the kennel cough soon.

YT Addict | Help Thank you so much for sharing your story and thank you for your well wishes. She still hasn't gotten her Rabies shot because of this Kennel Cough. Now that you mention it though...........she got worse after having the other shots because the vet thought she was better. I'm hoping she is at her worst now..................... Thanks again!!!! |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | When I got Cali as a puppy she had Kennel cough and gave it to my older pom. They both had it for a little over 3 months. It was like you said, more in the morning and night. It did go away after the 3 months. I used the steamy bathroom to and it helped. Hope your baby is over it soon.
