| Ok... I think I just aged about 10years! Ok... so I was just tucked in bed a little while ago (it's 11 here in SC) and all of a sudden my Oliver doing a dance on the floor and jumping putting his paws up at me. Since I am desperately trying to potty train Oliver I jumped out of bed and took him out my side door. I realized that my spot light was clearly not working so its pitch black, im in my pj's, and barefoot. When it was time for him to go back inside he started before me and when he almost got to the door there was this large hissing noise behind a stack of leaves by the door... just so you know I'm the type that runs like the wind when I see a roach.... I immediately grabbed my baby and went back into the yard. There was no other way into my house... so a mama has to do what she has to do... start throwing things and yelling at the pile of leaves. So then my addrenalin sent me leaping across the porch and we are now safely inside. Whew!! Lets just say there will be no sleep for me anytime soon... my heart is still racing! Hmmm... either my neighbors think I'm really strange... or I would like to think they were very asleep!

| Now my heart is racing too! At least put a flashlight by the door... and in the AM clear the leaves (use a very long handled rake)

YT 1000 Club Member | MY Potty break area (back yard) has two fixtures on the same switch. I use those Fluorescent Lamps in both, they're very long lived, and have never gone out at the same time. They are on full time between 8pm and 8am. They make a "Y" type screw in adapter for single lamp sockets, where you could have two lights working at the same time. The Fluorescent Lamps can be operated for hours/overnight, for only a few cents cost.

| You're braver than I am. There is no way I would have gone out there in total darkness. I'm glad you got back inside. Get those lights replaced today.

YT 1000 Club Member | We have a "resident" Possum, it has it's Den near the Bayou, which is near the house. It only made the mistake of coming into my yard before 8pm, only ONCE ! I've NEVER seen a Possum run that fast ! 8pm is when we shut the Doggy Door, and my Dogs can't go outside, unless we permit it. Both mine are pretty used to seeing it make its rounds now, and just watch it through the Patio sliding door, and growl lowly, as it pases through. Possums are such great environmental animals, "Nature's little Janitors" ! Anything that's left in the yard/area, dead/or in the outside feeder, is gone by morning. I'm glad to share with it.

| I'm sure possums are great for the environment... but still scared the HECK out of me when it was hissing at my baby!!! (and scary looking to boot ). I've taken the advice on the lights! I just haven't seen Oliver growl at anything yet... and he has barked about 3 times tops... maybe its the pet mill history. Next time at least I will be a little more prepared (shoes and lights would be a start)

| Talk about aging 10yrs. Right after we got Kayla (she will be 4 in June) I walked in the livingroom only to see this snake about 2ft. long. I almost fainted. I ran put Kayla in her playpen, got a broom from the garage and swep it out the front door. The only thing we could think of was it come through the doggie door. We now have it closed at night. I know you must have been scared half to death. I am just glad my other dogs didn't grab it when I went for the broom. lol!!!! |

| @ Sandysbabies.... YES I would have aged big time on that one!! I think its amazing the adrenalin we get when it comes to our babies. If it had just been me in my house w/out my lil one and a snake was there... I would have just left and wouldn't come back until that famous snake guy came in.. got it and then cleared my entire house!
