I buy the biggest size and yet he chews off a small piece. I usually grap it and cut off the hanging piece. They say these are digestible but I do not trust that. Watch if your dog is allergic to beef , I think that is what they are made of. Just be cautious cuz I hate to hear a dog choked. Same with chew toys. He chewed the bottom off of a rubber fire hydrant and ate a few tiny pieces. Good thing I was watching him before he ate the squeaker! Only very tough toys can he have. | ![]() When Bailey was still a pup, he got to chewing on furniture. We tried many things, but the one thing he loved and still does to this day is deer or elk antlers. I know some think it's not healthy, but knock on wood, Bailey loves them and has been just fine. Our local holistic pet food place recommended one and we never looked back. Now we find them on line and the price is better. At first I was kinda concerned about how these antlers are acquired. But upon further googling, deer and elk shed their antlers. That is what these are made from. I try to order between 4" and 5" or for a small dog. He will chew and gnaw on one for hours on end. May not work for all Yorkies, but Bailey loves them!!! |

| ![]() The thing that worries me about deer or elk antlers is that they are like rock solid and i am afraid that Armani would break his teeth. |

| ![]() Spike absolutely LOVES the Nylabones that are flavored. Hot dog flavored with nubs is his fave. He also likes the same brand that looks like a pig and seems really heavy for him but he drags it around by the snout, and it's BBQ pork flavor. So tuff! ![]()

| ![]() I heard Nylabones aren't the safest either. I googled them and saw quite a few puppies / dogs had to have emergency surgery and some have died from these bones. |

| ![]() ZoE has had bullysticks for the past four years. She enjoys chewing on them. I throw them away when they get down to the last inch or two.

If you based every decision you make of a few people's bad experience, you'd never do much of anything. You'd never shower/bathe, cos that occurs in the most dangerous room in your home. You'd never drive cos someone you know somehow died in a crash. You'd never eat cos people die every year choking to death. Bully sticks are digestible and soften quickly with minimal chewing. ZoE's vet, and myself consider them a minimal risk.

| ![]() I totally agree with you and it's not that i am paranoid just this is my first Yorkie and they just seem so fragile to me (coming from owning German Shepherds) and i just want the best for him. My German Shepherds you can give them anything to chew and not worry about it because they had solid teeth and a stronger intestines. do you know if there are some bully sticks that are softer than others? Also Armani hasn't tried Himalayan Chews which seem to be pretty popular. |

| ![]() I had to use a hacksaw on one of Piper's Himalayan chews, as well! I just read about microwaving the chews (in Forum) and that renewed Piper's interest in it. Also, I run it under hot water to soften a bit and that seems to work in getting her interested. I want her to like them as I feel they're some of the 'safer' chews out there...
