What is your vote for best "Chew Bone" The problem with chew bones is they either aren't good for your dog (contains rawhide, e.g.) or they go through them way too fast and gets expensive. I tried "Himayalan Dog Chew" and it is awesome. Himalayan Dog Chew - Small | Himalayan Dog Chews It's made of Yak Milk and Cow Milk (boiled and then dried for several weeks into a hard chew). Takes him about a week to go through a bone. So a pack of 4 or 5 should last you about a month. Better the chew bone than something he/she shouldn't be chewing on. Click on the video on this page so you see what they look like: http://www.lukesallnatural.com/himal...ew-p-3596.html Put it this way, I bought the large size which was way too long for him to hold up between his paws while chewing, so I had to cut it in half. It took a hacksaw to cut it in half. That's how thick and strong they are. |
Interesting topic, was just thinking about the same thing. I recently bought Hudson a small sized Kong toy. I didn't even know they made them in small but I wanted to try it out to see if he would be entertained by it. He played with it for about 15 minutes and then gave up on trying to get the treat out. Has anyone else experienced the same thing with the Kong? |
My pup will chew & gnaw & lick on her kong if I smear peanut butter inside it. But it isn't her favorite chew toy. |
I like the CET Dental Chews, size medium. I mean, for my dogs - not me :D. |
Bully Sticks our my dog's favorite. I think of them as safe and keeps my 2 girls occupied for hours. |
I think the problem comes in when you find something they won't choke on and they end up breaking teeth on it instead. If there is no give when you push your finger into it, then it is probably to hard for their teeth. And if it's too hard for their teeth and one breaks, it will probably have to be pulled for $500+. So I have no advice except that the CET chews are probably fine in most cases as long as your pups aren't getting little pieces off that they could choke on. |
Himalayan Chews and Bully Sticks are pretty much what Jackson has. Anything else is either bad for him, he doesn't like, or gets eaten too quickly. |
Sammy likes the CET dental chews. |
Chew toy My yorkie Loves Hartz Tiny Dog Dental Duo. It is a toy and edible chew. I get them from Walmart. They cost about $3.00. |

Taycie also uses the C.E.T chews! Loves them... I have been getting the petite ones but she is so aggressive when she chews.. I have been thinking about getting the medium sized ones.. I always watch very closely while she is chewing.. Have you had any problems with them being to big?? I just want them to last longer then 5 min! |
Dingo Bones :) |
Himalayan Dog Chews, Deer Antlers and CET Chews |
Himalayan Chews and Texas Toothpicks. Both seem to help keep my boys' teeth clean. The Toothpicks don't last long, and I have to hold onto them because of the choking hazard for Max who would try to swallow the end piece, but my boys go wild for them. |
Lucy loves Bully Sticks but Ringo eats them too fast and ends up getting stomach issues ~ so we limit those to about every 2-3 weeks. Lucy loves these tiny, plain rawhide sticks (they are very thin) and will gnaw on those until they look little spears, at which time I throw them away. It will take her a few days to create that masterpiece. Ringo can't have those either because he doesn't chew them; he eats them. Anyhoo, her vet said her teeth looked really good yesterday so maybe having something to chew on does help. |
From hearing other input, you should give the Himayalan Dog Chew a try. It lasts a week! Not 5 minutes. What other chew bone will last nearly a month for under $10? Max has been chewing the large bone which is probably a little too big for him but he still manages to eventually make a dent in it little by little. If you get the small size, it should be perfect for your baby. |
