| I just think you were lied to from the beginning. It's highly unlikely that a pup grew that much in a matter of a few days. That would be doubling his weight in a week right? This breeder just wanted your money and probably would have given you the moon too. Unfortunately, you have some minor fault as well. If you would have researched the breed, you would have found that no honest breeder sells before a puppy is 12 weeks of age, does not make promises about weight (the best the can do is guess, but not guarantee), and that in the event the new puppy owner is not happy, hey are here to take their dog back, no questions asked. It is the breeder's responsibility to care where the pup goes. I feel for you. The breeder should have never left you high and dry like that. I wish you luck on finding the pup a wonderful forever home.

Face it..you are going to have a 12 to 14 pound Yorkie...you may starve it to 10, but it is still going to have a 12 to 14 frame...breeder lied because they know few people want a large Yorkie when paying for a small one.

| If you have them playing together now by the time your yorkie is full grown they will be best friends and love playing together. Dont underfeed your yorkie!!! It can really harm their health in many many ways. If you dont want a yorkie that big please try and find someone that does instead of trying to give it a diet to make it smaller. Best of luck!!!

| I am just assuming but the size of the dog seems only to be an issue because her original dog has issues with larger dogs and not just because she wanted a small dog. She was misled by the breeder and does not want to bring in a dog that will cause her original dog to be unhappy. I think she is being considerate of the needs of her current dog first, which she should as it is all ready a family member. Buster is on Orijen and they also recommend 1/2 cup a day for small dogs. I feel she is doing the right thing for both dogs in regards to rehoming the new dog as what dog would want to live with a sibling who does not like them. Better a new home without issues. I hope she finds a wonderful home for the new dog. YorkieRose with all respect I do think dogs eat out of boredom. I was not vigilant with restricting Buster's treats and now I have an issue with trying to get him to loose weight due to his problems with LP and arthritis in his front legs. He is currently 8lbs and should be 6lbs according to my vet and his Orthopedic Surgeon. He is a treat addict and will whine to get a treat all the time. I am learning smaller portion control and to not give into his demands. He is well fed, gets supplements, and still craves treats. I realize that I have caused this behavior and now must find a way curb it as it is in Buster's best interests.

| [QUOTE=YorkieRose;3447540]I have 36 yrs of breeding under my belt..puppies in the 8 week age range should be fed high quality dog food 3 times per day, plus training treats...and they should not be limited in amounts at meal time...no puppy eats unless it is hungry. Dogs are not like us humans, eating out of boredom, depression, emotional eating etc..they eat because they are HUNGRY! I agree with Buster's mom. I don't think every dog can be offered unlimited food. My shih tuz is over weight. Now, it may be in part because I used to "free feed" .. but I have NEVER seen him turn down food. Saying that... puppies must be fed enough for proper growth.

Let's turn the tables...How much will you weigh when you are full grown? Care to speculate on that one? Who will / or will not make a friendship decision based on that single fact alone? Interesting to think about it imagine your friends asking that one as a qualifying criteria before they get close to you. He is your pup - and he relies upon you, whether he is light as a feather or fat as a ... well.... whatever. You chose him. He relies on you. Your pom, if they grow up together will be fine. Appreciate him for who he is.
