| That's horrible! Everytime I see someone that plans to use one of those fences with a yorkie, I get this sick feeling.

| Who in their right mind leaves their dogs in the yard period!? No matter the size why didn't they have a door to run inside? I wouldn't leave my 21 pound Schnorkie in my fully 8' fenced back yard with dog houses out there...unless the slider dog door was open...and I'm walking to the mail box in the front yard as I sometimes do...but really two dogs under 20 pounds left out!? It's always the dogs that suffer! The poor big dogs too! Obviously they were the victims of bad owners too...eft to run loose! Obviously they were not socialized to little dogs! Ignorance by every "owner" involved and 4 dogs were harmed! Last edited by concretegurl; 02-19-2011 at 01:32 AM. |

| Speaking of small dogs and electric fences.... Look at this ad that I just saw on Nashville Craigslist tonight: Lost Dog - Yorkie - Chloe (West Meade/Davidson) "Cloee Wilson is lost and needs your help. She did not come inside last night 2/17/11. She stays inside an invisible fence so she will most likely have an invisible fence collar on, but she might have lost it. She has an id tag with her name and other information on it as well. Please help we love her very much and want her to come home soon." Lost Dog - Yorkie - Chloe I can't believe the amount of NOT thinking that goes their peta |

| Woops, scratch that last sentence...I didn't not mean "peta" anything...it was a typo and then a dog and husband rushing me and clicking send before I meant to....what I meant to say is that I can't believe people with small dogs are putting their dogs out like this with no supervision. I would never in a million years! Quote:

| I incurred the wrath of my neighbors; all of whom have electric fences ~ by erecting a regular fence in my yard. But I have two little dogs; and next door to me are two big dogs; one a german shephard. No way was I going to put a shock collar on either one of mine and rely upon it.

| I have had people get really angry with me for telling them that this can happen. For the life of me, I don't know WHY people use those fences.

| OMG! When I read electric fence I thought like live stock style fence not dog invisible fence with electrocution collar-seriously!?! it said for protection right...so it was an electric fence to keep things out not in right? I can't wrap my brain around the invisible fence type being used. Last edited by concretegurl; 02-19-2011 at 06:31 AM. |

I was reading the comments on the article and a friend of the owner of the larger dogs said she also witnessed the tragedy. She blamed the little dog for attacking first.

The second link posting is about a lost dog escaping from an invisible fence...but people were commenting on them prior I'm assuming the first link for this thread was referring to the traditional type of electric fence and hope the OP clarifies...

I thought invisible fence as I read. However, when the electric fence was mentioned I thought I had missed something. Not that it would surprise me to hear someone using this type of fence for their dogs![]() The fact remains, neither fence is safe for dogs, imo. Thanks Kristin.
