think like a criminal and there you go...but all this concern of mine is probably after spending a long time working in the criminal justice system with offenders who didn't understand "rehabilitation". So sure just let anyone in...I'm sure the percentage is small in such a situation. Probably depends more on one's locale too.

A foster dog is a bit different isn't it? Isn't the fostering place required to do more checking ??? IDK about all that.

Of course not, everyone has to start out as a first time pet owner and he/she may not have a Veterinarian selected yet. However, I always like to hear when a prospective pet owner is already checking with family & friends for a good Veterinarian reference.

If my prospective family has had a dog in the past or even currently has one, you're right that I will call their Veterinarian to check on their records regarding timely vaccinations, dentals, etc. I don't need to speak with the Veterinarian for that...the office staff will verify what I need to know.

You see, I want to know that my fosters go to homes that are well prepared for their new family member.

There are records. I have never had a problem getting vet records. And, yes, I will say that I will not adopt to someone who has not demonstrated excellent vet care.

As for losing a "lot" of "potential really good homes", there really are not that many out there imho. I process applications every day and I can tell you that the bad far outnumber the good. I would rather chance losing a good one than to place a "lot" in "potential really good homes" that I have seen the results of. All of the yorkies in rescue....where do you think they come from? From breeders who did not do their homework and who took a chance that I will not take with a defenseless little pup. These are live beings...not objects.

And, lastly, those of you who will not allow a buyer into your home are not screening people...period. I will not adopt to a person I would not trust in my home. Your comments make me wonder who or shall I say what you are selling your pups to.

I see the results daily of poor placements by breeders. It always boggles my mind. Hard for me to understand how people can let a precious live being that was raised in their home go to just anyone with a few bucks in their pocket and not worry about them.

No offense OP but please consider your breeding practices as well.
Many people are busy preserving pure bred "captive wolves" as well as NAIDS; wolf dog hybrids are unpredictable and in a more detrimental way affect wolf & NAID lines.

I see the results daily of poor placements by breeders. It always boggles my mind. Hard for me to understand how people can let a precious live being that was raised in their home go to just anyone with a few bucks in their pocket and not worry about them.

I've had my pets for quite some time and they are very much a part of my family. I do not breed to make money off of others, nor because "Oh Wow, that's so cool!" I can also tell you that they are not unpredictable and never have been.

I really don't care what kennel you run, nor what your opinions are. This is a forum for Yorkies, which is my reason for being here. If you are having a bad day or are just the type that likes to start drama, please do it elsewhere. I'm not interested in your comments and I'm sure no one else is either.

I love the names of your babies. I had a little boy Romeo, he was a scrawny little guy too, he came from a good breeder and I asked my vet several times if he was to underweight and he said "he is jut a really small guy" but he was healthy. Unfortunately someone on our block where we used to live put antifreeze in the little cups that hold the bolts in the light standards all along our block and Romeo found it on our walk (unknown to me at the time) he passed away 36 hpurs later. He was only 2 1/2 year old. I have never quite recovered from his loss. even at 2 1/2 he was still under 3 pounds and never really filled out, I suppose that would have come in time, but I worried all the time cause he was so skinny so I know what you mean.

I've done my research and quite well at that. I know my animals and have successfully placed any pups from them with good loving and nurturing homes. Never, has there ever been a problem with mine nor with the offspring. Anyone that knows me or has received a pup from me can tell you that they are big lovable lap dogs, probably more so than my yorkies.

There are many dog species out there that are classified as vicious and unpredictable; it doesn't mean that they are. It has a lot to do with who owns them and how they are treated and raised. Any adoptive homes for them are carefully pre-screened and interviewed for their well being as too many individuals only want them for the mere novelty of the idea.

As for your so-called facts and helpful suggestions, I'll pass. I work closely with my vet and the K-State Veterinary School when it comes to them. I don't think that there's anything you can add that would have a major impact on how I raise or breed my pets. I suggest you stick with your NAIDs and leave me to my own.

Juliette has gotten much bigger, although she's only at 3 lbs. I started feeding her the Royal Canin and it has really made a shocking difference. Her coat has gotten so shiny and beautiful from it. You'd never know she was the same puppy we picked up on Christmas Eve. Romeo is 5.5 lbs and we have a cat named Trippy that's about 13 lbs., but Juliette is the boss. Her sister is also doing very well and she is much bigger, over 5 lbs.

I still see ads posted from the lady we got them from and it really worries me. I'm sure she probably started out well but I think she got in over her head and just can't handle it anymore. But I'm very happy that things turned out well for Juliette, she had me worried for a while.
