| I would have probably gone off on her a little defending my dog. Once a long time ago a guy I hardly knew stopped by my place with some friends of mine. I had a little cat, minding her own business, named Sadie back then. This guy picked her up, held her at arms length and said I HATE cats. I told him that Sadie lives here, you don't. This is HER house and I think you had better leave. He said, you would kick me out for a cat? I said yes, everyday and twice on Sunday!!

I found that its better to say something...so she knows you don't appreciate her actions...then to be silent.....because it will just happen again. And you might not be as nice next time..just remind her you don't treat her animals like that.....If it were me however..I'd push her dog away nicely........the dog won't mind...YOUR cousin will get the point...and then you can pet her dog after wards!

| My sister's dog jumps on me all the time. He's this big, beautiful, and bad boy Australian Shepherd, and I really dislike it when he jumps on me. No doubt about it, Lennie is being friendly, but he's way out of line with that behavior. So I talked about it with her, and she actually said that she didn't think it bothered me because he was just playing, etc, etc, etc. and she figured it was okay because I hadn't said anything. I'm really blessed because I can tell her, "Well no, it should not be my job to have to feel uncomfortable to make your dog behave. So she now keeps him from jumping on me and others too because she has perspective on it now. So, I think that even though my Yorkie is only 3.75 lbs. it is not okay for him to jump on anyone. When I answer the door, I pick him up. It's not okay with me if he jumps on anyone other than me and DH. And if he does jumps on anyone, he is told, "NO" sharply. I guess what I'm trying to say is that it's not adorable when someone else's dog jumps on me, and I assume that it's not adorable to that person when my dog jumps on her. |

| This is why I can't stand most people! I would never dream of doing something like that to someone's pet while I am in their home! We have a 70 lb. Basset Hound who thinks he is a 5 lb. lap dog. Guess what? If you don't want him sitting in your lap when you come over....DON'T COME OVER! People amaze me sometimes. |

| I've pretty much figured out by now that there are two kinds of people who come into my house. Those who are "dog people" and those who aren't. Even if they own dogs, they aren't necessarily "dog people." "Dog people" don't treat your animals like that. They often greet your dog even if they are in a hurry or have some other reason to be there. When the "other kind" of people show up....well, it is better to pen the dog and just realize they don't have an interest in your pet. Their loss. I've experienced the same kind of thing from few people. It makes me mad also. I'm sorry you had to go through it too. I mean how can you resist the cute face and mannerisms of a spunky yorkie???!!!

| We had a simallar experience ... when Suzi was still a puppy my nephew pushed her off the couch. I did not seee it, but my son did. It pissed off my son , and it forced my brother to talk to his mean boy... He tried to make a excuse for him, saying, that my nephew is not use to small animals, which was BS . Thye have Chi's. to this day the same nephew STILL is very rough with dogs. They have a tiny puppy , and recently I saw him pick the pup up by the scruff of his neck and toss him onto the couch. It made me gasp. This time my brother was more firm . my nephew is 14. Old enough to know better. I do not let him come over to my place anymore. I think the kid has some type of mental problem. When it is your home, and visitors are over, they need to abide by your rules. That girl , would of been asked to leave she ever pushed down one of my dogs.

| Well, who knows maybe when I've had Dinky longer, I will see people who don't want my dog to jump on them differently. Now, I just see them as people who don't like others people's dog jumping on them, and I think that's reasonable. I don't take it personally. I really, really don't get it. I just asked DH, if it's okay for Dink to jump on people, and he too is quite sure that this is not okay. I mean we're happy to hold Dinky, Dinky's happy to be held, and the friend or loved one is happy because my dog's not jumping on them. And you know, the ones who aren't crazy about dogs, always come around. I just like to give them some time and space to do so. |

| now while i wouldn't allow a 50lb lab to jump on the guests, a yorkie hardly bothers someone by jumping up with it's itty bitty legs at someone. i think i would have said something along the lines of "this is HER house, if it bothers you that she's here you can feel free to leave it" |
