| Hello Everyone! Hi All. Happy to be here, and happy this forum exists! I have a cute little girl here. Izzy. She is about 6 months old, and already has a distinct personality. Got her cheap because the breeder said she was an 'ugly duckling'. She has thin fir around her haunches, and an underbite and HUGE ears! Other than that, she seems pretty normal, but this is my first experience with Yorkies. I've wanted one for a while now, as my black lab died about 7 years ago. It's taken me that long to get my mind around having another dog. My Max was super special. I still miss him terribly, but now that both my parents are gone too, it's kind of put in perspective. Yorkies just seem like they exist to make you smile. I need that, and I am happy to give lots of love in return. I am thinking I might need to get a companion for her at some point. She is very intelligent and bores easily. I have bought tons of toys, but that only helps somewhat. I found this site in response to a search about her diarrhea. I will try the canned pumpkin and see how that goes. Any advice on how to feed the pumpkin? It seems like shes had it forever, but its only been a couple of days. At least she is calmer and less fidgety now! LOL So, I am happy to be here, and I look forward to interacting with you all, for now though, I need to get out and do errands before this newest snow becomes a factor. Namaste, Christopher |

| Welcome to YT. I'm sure it will be a big help to you in raising Izzy and I'm sure you will, also, make some friends here. There is lots of good advice, but please do not hesitate to ask any questions whenever you have a problem or just need some reassurance. Yorkies are little monkeys and are good for a laugh a minute. They make great companions. How long has Izzy had diarrhea? Be very careful and don't allow it to continue. They can dehydrate quickly, because they are so small. Have you checked her gums to see if they are a nice pink color and not sticky?

Welcome aboard, and great advice above. You may want to get her into a vet, there could be another problem causing it, and yes, watch the dehyfration. | |

| Welcome! Are you sure it's diarrhea or just runny? I see you feed her canned-food, that's why I ask. Wet food = wet poop. Dry food = dry poop.

| Hi again, All. So, just to be clear. I have not fed her any wet food. Fromm puppy gold, carrot bits, a little celery, a few carob chips, unsweetened. But it's been like that pretty much since she arrived, so I think she found something evil on the floor, OR I noticed that she now jumps up on top or her crate, so she has access to the trash. Needless to say, I fixed that! ACCESS DENIED! She seems to be better now as she as not pooped in a few hours. we will see. My question is: How much canned pumpkin to give her. SHe is around 6#. I gave her around 1/4 cup. She gobbled it right up. Should I give her more? Should I continue for a while? Any advice is appreciated! Thanks! I will post some pictures of her for sure! She said she is not up for a photo-shoot right now though! LOL |

| Welcome, Christopher and Izzy. The breeder gave you wrong information. There are no ugly duckling yorkies, just beautiful ones. You might want to get her stool tested if she is having diarrhea. Has she been vet checked yet? You just might want to take her in and get her checked. We would love to see pictures.

| A bit of plain Yogurt sometimes helps and is good for the GI system, but smart to get her Vet checked if ot continues. |

| Oh me gosh YES she does smile!! Thats one of the things that attracted me to her! I did post 2 pictures so far. In a album on my profile. Is that how its done normally? I am new to this stuff, so be patient with me. One pic from the day she came home and another pic from about 2 weeks ago. Just got done playing with her for the night. I love how she is getting mature and will just put herself to bed. What a cutie! Hope to get a picture of her smiling. She smiles when she wants to get out of her enclosed area. |
