I have always said Addyson doesn't bark she screams and she is 4yrs. old.

not to be a downer... but I picked up my shih tzu one time and he screamed. It was alful. It turned out he had something wrong with his back. If any of mine scream I have them checked out.

Oh the otherhand I have an ole grump who will growl if you are within a foot of him... crusty ole self he is

Doesn't that scream just break your heart? I hate it when mine do that. Thankfully, they do seem to outgrow it.

My friend's yorkie is a screamer when you pick him up. I picked him up one time and he let out this very lound scream. I thought I was hurting him so I put him back down and which point he proceeded to run behind his mommy and give me a good cussing out.

He started barking non stop as if to say "how dare you pick me up" or "who told you it was okay to pick me up". We both were laughing so hard we were crying. It was then that she told me Scooter always screams when someone other than his mommy picks him up.

Princess Sophie isn't so much a "screamer" (she does yelp if your shoe gets too close to her feet) but this past week, while we were puppy sitting our friends two female pups, we discovered she is really a "whiner"! OMGoodness, if she didn't get to go out back with everyone else (due to sore food) this past weekend, you could have heard her from the front yard! I'd never heard her like this before. We ended up letting her go out and I just went out and bought some more baby socks. LOL No sense in scaring everyone in the neighborhood!

Saffie is not hurt and doesn't scream for nothing?? She only screams when I walk her around the neighborhood. I walked her in the woods and she doesn't scream. I was so frustrated yesterday I walked her to the end of the street and brought her back home. I tell her no and try to shut her little mouth. I think she is so anxious she can't stand herself. I walk her without her sister because I don't want her sister to act like that. Her sister is quiet and calm. Poor little Saffie. Anyone know what we are doing wrong?

I know this is an old thread but I'm glad it was brought up.

If Mandie screamed when I touched her or picked her up, I would definitely get her checked out.

However, Mandie screams...like a real full-on scream, when and only when, I go to use my scissors to trim her feet. It is like she has nerve endings in those particular hairs. She doesn't scream when I trim any other part of her lol

I'm glad this old thread was resurected. Macy screams when the vet gets close to her ears during a regular check up. He can stick his fingers in her mouth, shine a light in her eyes, take blood and express her anal glands without a sound but put the pointy thing with a light within a foot of her ears and she screams loud enough the people in the waiting room jump. She screams the entire time he is looking in her ears until he turns off the light on his instrument. Needless to say he does a quick look-see in her ears.

Last time I was there, a woman that was waiting with her dog to see the vet came up to me when I was leaving to ask if my dog was OK because Macy sounded like she was being murdered.

Jasper doesn't scream, but he has this low kind of howl that almost sounds like he is crying and trying to speak at the same time. Sometimes I swear he says "mama". My DH
Has heard him. He only does it after I put him in his kennel for the night. The first time it scared me and I rushed to get him. Now he continues to do it.

OK- so we thought Chip was a 'squeaker' and he had had short bursts of drama squeals-but until last night, we didn't know the extent of it.
We had an older (10 yr old) Yorkie visiting for a few days. The older guy is very quirky about shadows and quick movements- to make a long story short, there was an incident involving 2 dogs on my recliner, a plate of tortilla chips and ended in our little Chip ( 1 year old) hysterically SCREAMING at the top of his lungs when the old man gave him a growl-
So glad this forum is here-I thought the old guy had bitten him-but it was just drama- SCARY!

My little Madlyn is only 9 weeks old, so I expected some degree of whining . But when she is put in the kennel or the sunroom ( which is a step lower than the living room and can be separated by a curtain, but leaves a view of the living room and all inhabitants within) she will start with a frantic whine and quickly escalate to a panicky ear piercing scream and yowl that doesn't stop. My boyfriend picked her up once before I could stop him. Now she screams even longer and louder. Hopefully this is a passing phase. I'm sure the neighbors think we torture her
