My yorkie screams for the heck of it! Remy has suddenly found his voice the past two weeks. He is fiesty!! He will let out a blood curling yelp if you accidentally brush your foot by him while walking. He acts like he was stepped on . This has even happened when company was over. He is a drama BOY! It's such a scary scream too. He will scream like this in the middle of the night if I leave him In his doggy bed because he knows I will put him in the bed with me! Does anyone else have a screamer like this? |
Nothing helpful here, but that reminds me of a Jack Handey quote: If trees could scream, would we be so cavalier about cutting them down? We might, if they screamed all the time, for no good reason. |
I also have one that yelps very loud like he was hurt if anyone even comes close to stepping on him. He started this during the past year. He doesn't yelp like that about anything else though - even rough housing with my lab. He has always been very quick,(and nervous) to move out of the way of feet..except mine. I guess he knows I am very careful to stay aware of where my babies are. He started this over reacting during the past year or so and is continually getting more dramatic about it. He is 8 now. I kind of thought his eyesight and/or response may be fading a bit with age. Is Remy older too? |

LOL - You are so right about the attention grabbing! Mine are always finding ways to manipulate me - they do insist on being the center of everything! |
I have a screamer. Total drama queen. He will scream and cry for the littlest reasons. He screamed just last night when I was trying to get a mat out of his coat. I wasnt even pulling hard and he made it sound as though I was trying to cut his whole arm off. He is such a baby! |

My boy screams if he has poo stuck to his bottom, at first I wondered what was the matter with him, scared me to death, he'd run fast towards me screaming his head off, now I know- I really watch what he eats and keep his bottom trimmed. I've never heard a dog scream before:eek: |

Scampers did this when he was a baby. He went through a stage were he would scream at the slightest thing, he was a total drama king. Luckily it was just a stage and he outgrew it when he was older. |

Well I like this Yorkietalk site! Makes me feel better other Yorkies are screaming too and that she may outgrow it. Kind of feel sorry for her screaming when we are trying to go for a nice walk. The screaming ruins the walk. I think I will just tell the people that ask that my Saffie is a drama queen. Still won't walk her with her sister. I don't want to screaming dogs, that's for sure. |
not a fun walk for the screaming Our one year old Yorkie rescue Saffie screams when I walk her outside. I can't take both my dogs for a walk because Pixie will start with the screaming too so I walk one at the time. Saffie things she is a bird dog and screams at birds or anything else. When we got her we took all our bird houses down so the birds would leave. Last week we bought barking collars and it works good for Saffie. Pixie used it one time and knows not to bark excessively. People come out to ask whats wrong with Saffie. I don't walk when she screams. I gently stroke her throat and tell her quiet. This YorkieTalk.com makes me feel a little better that other Yorkies yelp at next to nothing also. |
