| Oh no. What am i going to do now? While moving a shelf for my 17 year old sister we dropped it on Gatsby's cage. It was so heavy it crumpled the cage and broke a support pin in the corner, its actually a miracle Gatsby was not inside because we wear rearranging furniture and i normally lock him in his cage but today he run in the bathroom instead so i just shut the door. I have been crating him when I'm not home and when I'm asleep because he keeps pooping on my floor. I'm afraid tonight ill have to let him run the house and just clean it up behind him (yes he goes out around 10-12 when i lay down the i get up in the middle of the night and take him potty between 2-4 when ever he cries and again when i wake up at 6) and worse then that I don't have the extra cash to go buy him a new crate until i get paid again on the 14th.what am i gonna do? sorry needed to vent a little and could not say anything my sister already feels terrible.

| How wonderful that little Gatsby was not in the crate! Good thinking to have him closed in another room while you worked. You might check around at thrift stores, Goodwill, Salvation Army, even consignment stores. Garage sales often have crates for next to nothing too. A little hot water and disinfectant and they are good to go! Might be a good time to think about starting a Pet Savings Account too. This is just a small emergency but it is good to have an account to go to when things come up unexpectedly. Pet Insurance or Care Credit Card is a good solution for planning for the unexpected health problems. Don't want to wait until there is a need -- have vet care $$ planned out. But it is also nice to have a pet savings account for things the Pet Insurance & Care Credit does not cover.

YT Addict | Glad Gatsby wasn't inside Take a look at your local classifieds, and ask around with friends. Someone may have one they are not using that they can give you for cheap or free!

| How lucky that Gatsby was not inside the crate! Maybe you could even post something even on YT to see if anyone in your area might have a crate or Xpen they are not using. I just took a quick look on Craigslist and there are several for sale around $20. columbus all for sale / wanted classifieds "crate" - craigslist

| Does your area have a freecycle group? It's run through yahoo. Just go to groups and search for freecycle in whatever area you are in. You can ask someone if they have a crate, then go to their house to pick it up. I've gotten a lot of stuff.

| Thanks for the offers everyone. I called my cousin and she is loaning me a baby play pen with plastic sides so he cant climb out its only temporary(she needs it back during the weekend) but will work for now. the bathroom was my first thought as well but my 11 year old brother has a bad ankle (he had a cleft foot when he was born and needed surgery) so i don't think he could climb over it to go potty and i know he cant keep Gatsby in if he wear to move the gate At least i have a few days to figure something out

| Can you post a couple of pictures of the crate and where it's broken? Maybe we can figure out a way for you to "fix" it for a while. |

| Well - your other option might be to make a pen. Have you considered using an upsidedown laundry basket with bedding inside and some books or something on top to weight it down? Or maybe you could block off a corner with some furiture??? A coffee table layed on edge or something like that? Good luck! |

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | Hlad that Gatsby was safely away from his crate and wasn't injured. Try putting out your need on FB. You never know when one of your friends might have one that they could give you.
