Teapot club? I will be adding pictures of my Harley shortly. The husband jsut ran home and took a few for me. Then of course more WILL be added tomorrow. And thanks again everyone for all of your help. Only two problems with these food everyone is telling me about. 1. I've never heard of them and when I type them into a search bar or even get on a website, the closest "store" that sells the brand, is over 50 miles away. and 2. I'm very isolated to where I can go. My town is about 100 miles away from any town worth anything.

I can't imagine one being left on a doorstep. That's sad, but I'm so happy to see he has found a forever home and I think it's so cute that he sleeps with your daughter. He must have been used to children already. Another happy ending.

The question is, "Do you love him?" If so, the size won't matter to you.

I would also like to say that is sounds like Harley got lucky when he found your doorstep. I have what is considered a big Yorkie girl at 8.5 lbs which is fine , she needs some girth to survive around here.

Yorkie Talk is a wealth of information about the breed, there are so many helpful members here who will help you with any questions you have.

Good Luck and I would love to see a picture of Harley.

this is my Fido:
http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._5987169_n.jpg

I always tie up his hair so he can see :P
He's the double size of a ''normal'' yorkie, he's 6 kilo's !
He's very muscular, not too fat, just a healthy yorkie, he's 2 years old.
His mom is 3,5 kilos , and his dad is about the same (3-4 kilo's), all his brothers and sister are this big too (from 5-8 kilo's), just really big litter.
Fido has an overbite, ears down, is too dark colored and has a little bit curly tail (its suppose to be straight, like on a labrador or a pointer, or like an half moon).
He's perfect to me , just more to love, and if I go to a walk with a yorkie group , I know straight away what dog is my Fido, cause he's always the biggest
I love that picture of Fido. I don't think I've seen that one before.

How funny, I just rescued a 1 year old "giant" yorkie as well. You can see him in my avatar or in my albums I think...I need to update some pictures but he is the one shaved down. His previous owner's didn't really care for him they way a yorkie needs to be cared for. Just remember, daily grooming as in brush hair, clean under the eyes if needed, and clean those teeth, if you don't keep his "member" saved down give it a cleaning as well with a dog bath wipe at the end of the day to keep that clean and free of any infection. You also may need to clean poo off from time to time, but keeping them in a sanitary trim will minimize this occurance. Like other posters have said feeding them a great food will keep them healthy which will make them happy. The best food that I've found that can actually be shipped to me is Wellness Small Breed which you can find at PetSmart and both of my pups gobble it right up. I sometimes add half a package of Ceaser to each of their dinners as an extra treat
Good luck with adjusting yourself and this wonderful pup to your home, he is so lucky to have found his way to you and your family.

This is Harley. And no, size does not matter. He's loved either way. His previous owners must have taken great care of him. He has no medical issues at this moment other than some dry skin and needing a trim. I'm guessing they kept him pretty well shaved down because he's just got these few little stringy things popping up out of his ears and on his tail. I don't care either way if he's a yorkie or not. He's a part of the family now. My aunt is helping me adjust to the small dog life(which I am not accustomed to AT ALL) and she's giving us some food which her little gal won't touch even tho its high quality stuff. If anyone knows any great groomers around the Saline, Pettis, or Lafeyette Counties in Missouri please let me know. We've got to get him in soon. His nails are tearing up my brand new hard wood floors!

You can always get the vet to do a nail trim if you aren't comfortable doing it yourself, my vet only charges $5 to do them.

He looks like a Yorkie to me. It's not a common thing but Yorkies can definitely be 17lbs.

I get Purina One Lamb 'n Rice. The first ingredient is lamb; you don't want your first ingredient to be anything but meat. And it comes from Walmart!

Right now we've got some Little Bites. It's made by Purina and it only cost me ab out 5 bucks. The first few nights he wouldn't touch it but last night he scarfed it down like he hadn't ate in weeks. So maybe he just got hungry enough to eat it or he was just still getting used to us. I'm not sure. The first ingredient in the Little Bites is Chicken Meal I believe. We'll try these things my aunt is giving us and I've also got some coupons for some free samples of this stuff Nature's Variety and a few others coming in so we'll jsut have to see what works.

I wouldn't give him a whole bunch of different dog foods. Dog's stomachs are sensitive and can't take a variety of foods w/o getting sick. Just pick the best one and give that to him.

Third, YT will give you all of the information you'll need to know on your new guy. There are so many, many helpful and knowledgable members, it would be my single piece of advice to you to visit and ask questions regularly.

Nature's Variety is a huge step up! NV is a great food. Just be sure to slowly mix in food, or you may see some stomach upset. Harley is a CUTIE. He reminds me of Jackson actually.
