Also, someone wrote in this thread something about how a breeder should not continue a line knowing that they are producing curls....I would have to go back and reread to find this exact post. But, my Izzy has a lot of champions in her background so I seriously doubt that this is just some sort of fluke...there has to be more wavy coats out there than what people realize.

I don't want to argue either BUT a "pure" silk coat will "not" have curls or waves that's fact. I'm sure she's silky as is my harvey but not a pure true silk as it's not straight. And Harvey is of my breeding and I know the difference

Forgot to tell ya thanks! She does have a sweet face and her personality is even sweeter!! I think her curls are beautiful (especially in a full coat), but I know that she *shouldn't* have them.

It's all in the genetic make up. Genetics play a huge roll in all this. So, it's based on genetics. However, I'm not a genetic expert but I rely on what I've been taught by experienced breeders of this breed and their studies of genetics and what I read. I hope that made sense LOL

Awww love a sweet personality!!! You're welcome!! Actually I don't have one in pretty curls like that but would love to see one in person one day. My cotton coats aren't what I say curly but wavy but a thick cottony feel and UGH they matt so easily and harder to take care of! The silk coats and the modified silk that I have are the easiest coats to deal with

You have to remember not everyone is going to uphold breeding to the standard ect...and then sometimes dogs end up in the wrong hands and breed incorrectly. I prefer breeding pure silk to pure silk nothing like the pure silk coat and the beauty of it! It's so easy to care for!! I prefer easy grooming to something that is going to be difficult LOL

This is why I was asking if this was based on your opinion or on actual facts...because genetics are very tricky. I can see that your personal opinion (based on your dogs) is that no curly coat can be silky, but I do know that this cannot be true because I own one. Are you saying that it's impossible for the Yorkie breed to be curly & silky or for all curls in general (even other breeds)?

nothing is impossible when genetics are involved of course not BUT a true pure silk coat should "not" be wavey or curly. Poodles evidently have curls in their genetic make up and the portguese water dog and other curley coated breeds ect...but if breeding correctly a pure silk coat should not have curls and if it does it's not pure, there has to be modified in the coat even if the slightest bit.
This is off topic and I know nothing about the Parti color so I can't answer the OP's orginal question so I'll turn it back over to those that can answer it.

Tiki is a standerd yorkie? My Ramsey's roots do the same way. Nice steel color which magically disappears as it grows out.

As far as Jeaniek's dog....I've seen streaking occur in the white of their coats most of the time. It's not unusual.

Well, I love definitions, and people using the word in the same way, I wasn't sure they concurred with you. I guess I'm confused because I wouldn't think you would want to breed hard silk into a line either. Sounds more like what the Silky breed has, in that, it doesn't reach the floor.

Yes Tiki is a standard yorkie, though very light except the 1" of steel roots. I keep getting my hopes up that that color will come in and last, but it doesn't. I've wondered if it is because the sun bleaches it here. She has gone thru many color changes in the first 2 years, but I guess this is it now.

I have hopefully waited for Ramsey's to come in too. It never has Tiki's coloring sounds exactly like Ramsey's.
