| ![]() Pnut's gf is moving in?!!! I say try it out first, you never know. Since Pnut already knows her I can't imagine it being that bad. Chuy, my first foster, was about one when i took him in. Uni was about the same, but had only met him once before. When we got in the car with him, Uni let out the loudest bark ever! She was not happy. When we fostered katie, Uni was a lot older, and by then had been a lot more socialized. While she and Katie did not become bffs, they did play ball together, kind of, but never slept near eachother or played tug of war or anything. Neither was miserable, but both felt like they wanted to be the only one. However, I think had I had fostered her longer, i could see them becoming good friends eventually. If it's not going to be a strain financially, i say go for it!

| ![]() I don't really notice that much difference. I think in the case of traumatized dogs it depends on which sex caused the trauma, they will definitely shy away from that sex. But, in a normal upbringing, they seem to love each equally, especially if they are neutered. My girls lay on whichever lap is most available. The boys as well. Dogs tend to gravitate to the one who provides the most personal care. DH always takes the boys out to potty so they will go to him first, I do all the feeding so they come to me for that reason. Okay, enough rambling..bottom line...not really...LOL

| ![]() I agree, I would give it a try. I personally would never have a single dog. they really do enjoy the company of other dogs. It's like kids. they love mom and dad, but they want other kids to play with. JMO. Good Luck to you. |

| ![]() I have to jump in here, I've always noticed this and have heard it wasn't true but it's what I've observed in my personal experience, here there is an obvious divide my males have always loved on women more and my females always on men more, same with my friends dogs, not that they don't respond to the same sex human just how there seems to be a preference....Nana911, "I think in the case of traumatized dogs it depends on which sex caused the trauma..." So true though my Scoobers (male) does gravitate to men at first, he's the only exception I've noticed personally, and he was a pup mill dump whom has a very specific reaction to women of certain characteristics.... I think in general the reasoning is due to general stereotypical personality traits of men and women human and the opposing correlation of behavioral traits of male and female dogs. That would be an interesting thread to see how many others have noted the same thing. Last edited by concretegurl; 12-21-2010 at 06:10 PM. |

| ![]() I agree with you. I think it is and will be good for Pnut to have someone that always wants to play with him, when I or DH is busy and someone to snuggle with.

| ![]() They look adorable together! I wish you well, I'm sure they will get on great. I'm really having the itch again for that second dog. I must say, if I come across the 'perfect' one, I don't think I could turn it down.
