I have to jump in here, I've always noticed this and have heard it wasn't true but it's what I've observed in my personal experience, here there is an obvious divide my males have always loved on women more and my females always on men more, same with my friends dogs, not that they don't respond to the same sex human just how there seems to be a preference....Nana911, "I think in the case of traumatized dogs it depends on which sex caused the trauma..." So true though my Scoobers (male) does gravitate to men at first, he's the only exception I've noticed personally, and he was a pup mill dump whom has a very specific reaction to women of certain characteristics.... I think in general the reasoning is due to general stereotypical personality traits of men and women human and the opposing correlation of behavioral traits of male and female dogs. That would be an interesting thread to see how many others have noted the same thing.
